Joint hosting of exhibitions for 6 new technologies based on high-performance materials

The 2nd International High Performance Materials Exhibition, 'Material Plus Korea 2017', will be held at KINTEX from July 12 (Wed) to 14 (Fri).

You can discover the latest technologies for high-performance materials, such as polymer materials, carbon materials, metal materials, and composite materials, which possess high-functional characteristics like lightweighting, high strength, and heat resistance.

MATERIAL+ KOREA has been hosted by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy since 2016 to provide a business platform for the exchange of research results on the latest high-performance materials technology and the promotion of industrialization.

Six related exhibitions, including nanotechnology, micro/nanosystems, laser technology, advanced ceramics, and smart sensors, will be held jointly. 350 companies from 10 countries are participating to exhibit the latest material technologies and products applicable to semiconductors, displays, automobiles, and electrical and electronic industries.

You can see MICRO/MEMS technology for miniaturization and intelligence, laser technology which is a core technology for adding high value to products, advanced ceramics which are future materials that perform core functions of IT, BT, and ET, and smart sensors that are intelligent unlike conventional sensors, all in one place.

At the technology workshop held alongside the exhibition, the 2nd High-Performance Materials Workshop, themed 'Advent of the 4th Industrial Revolution Era, Challenges and Responses for High-Performance Materials,' will feature presentations by five speakers.

Starting with a presentation by Jeong Eun-mi, Head of the Industrial Competitiveness Research Division at the Korea Institute for Industrial Economics and Trade, on the topic of the impact of the Fourth Industrial Revolution on the materials industry, presentations will be given by Namgung Seong-tak, Country Manager at Victrex; Park Ki-seon, Head of Research at SK Materials (Executive Director); Lee Chan-ki, Team Leader of the Convergence Materials Process Team at the Advanced Materials Process Center of the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology; and Um Ji-yong, Team Leader of the Power-based Systems Research Division/Energy Storage Systems Research Center at the Korea Automotive Parts & Materials Research Institute.

In addition, a workshop on technological trends and future prospects in the fields of micro-nano systems and smart sensors is scheduled to take place. In the nano field, a three-day program will be held, including a Plenary Session, Technical Session, and Satellite Session, to review the latest research achievements and current technological status.

An official from the High-Performance Materials Steering Committee stated, “For the high-performance materials industry to develop, new product development, R&D, and marketing must be organically linked,” adding, “Material Plus Korea is serving as a good business platform for this.” "In particular, we expect this workshop to be a major venue for practical exchange, as it will not only allow us to check the material development status of leading high-performance material companies but also bring together core capabilities of domestic and international high-performance materials," he stated.
