Future Growth Industries: Robots and Drones, How Far Have We Come?

The 'RoboUniverse & K Drone Summit' will be held at Ilsan KINTEX from the 28th to the 30th. The RoboUniverse Summit is an international exhibition that tours seven cities worldwide, comprehensively covering IOE (Internet Of Everything)-based robot technology, marking the second edition following last year.
This year will feature the Mayor of Jeonju Cup National Drone Soccer Tournament, KT Drone Racing Tournament, robot competition and other events, as well as exhibitions of various drones and robots including agricultural drones, maritime drones, and unmanned delivery drones. Over four days, conferences will be held on the themes of artificial intelligence, robots and drones.
Kim Dae-won, Head of Kakao Communication Part at Kakao, who took the stage as the keynote speaker on the first day, said, "We need to look at artificial intelligence not just from a technological perspective but with a clear-eyed view. While technological advancement is progressing rapidly, we have now reached a point where technological development is being affected by social systems," emphasizing the need for discussion from a social perspective.
Following this, ARIS Technology CEO Kang Min-gu and NVIDIA Executive Director Cha Jung-hun gave presentations on how artificial intelligence is applied and utilized in the robot and drone industry. Subsequently, companies participating in the exhibition introduced cases of using home robots, agricultural robots, and chatbots.
There was also an introduction of 'Drone Soccer' developed by Jeonju City as a successful case of content development for drone industry promotion. Jeonju Mayor Kim Seung-soo said, "Many cities are working on drones and artificial intelligence, but if you benchmark the leader, you can only stay in second place. That's why we started drone soccer," and added, "We created a drone soccer ball and soccer team, and are also establishing a drone soccer association. We want to hold a World Drone Cup within five years."
The Mayor of Jeonju Cup Drone Soccer Tournament was also held as the first event. With 19 teams participating, 27 matches were held from preliminaries to finals. The matches held for the first time in a dedicated stadium attracted considerable attention.
On the 29th, presentations will be held on topics including the development direction of military drones based on the Fourth Industrial Revolution and improvements to legal systems, drone operation trends and safety assurance measures, smart cities using drones, and future technologies upgrading drones. Additionally, the KT Drone Racing Tournament featuring world racing drone champion Kim Min-chan will take place.

The AI-based asset management platform SolarOnCare is deployed across more than 3,000 power plants nationwide, achieving a system uptime of 99.82% and a 3.7% improvement in power generation performance.
