Drone racing has evolved from a simple pastime to a competition. Accordingly, a new drone sport was introduced at 'RoboUniverse 2017'.

Drone soccer, developed for the first time in the world by Jeonju City, is a game in which five players per team compete for three minutes using their respective drone balls, with the team scoring the most points winning. The drone ball is surrounded by a round exoskeleton, and it is sufficient as long as the number of external protective frames is not excessively small.

The playing field must be rectangular, with specifications of 14 to 20 meters in width and 7 to 10 meters in length. The surface must not be exposed asphalt or concrete to protect the equipment. Since the droneball has a low center of gravity, it can right itself after a crash or overturn; however, if the surface is not level, it may fail to stand upright.

The dimensions of the goalpost shall be an inner diameter of 60–80 cm and an outer diameter of 100–120 cm, and it shall be located 2–3 m above the surface at a distance of 1.5 m from the center of the short side of the playing field in the direction of the center line. The goalpost must not sway from side to side and must not be at risk of falling.

The rules of the game are simple, as long as you adhere to the specifications for the playing field, goalposts, and ball. You just need to score as many of your drone balls as possible into the opponent's goal. Anyone can enjoy the game as long as they observe the limit on consecutive scoring.
