LG Electronics is expanding the application of its 'Inverter Linear Compressor', which excels in high efficiency, high performance, and low noise, to all refrigerator models.

LG Electronics will equip all new products with the inverter linear compressor, a key component of premium refrigerators, by the end of this year, except for some models such as single-door and commercial refrigerators.

LG Electronics is the only company in the home appliance industry to use inverter linear compressors in its refrigerators. Inverter linear compressors are 30% more energy efficient and quieter than standard compressors.

Refrigerators operate on the principle that a compressor compresses and circulates refrigerant to lower its temperature. Conventional compressors lose energy during the power conversion process, converting the motor's rotary motion into linear motion to compress the refrigerant. Furthermore, separate devices are required, resulting in a complex component structure.

Linear compressors, which use linear motors to "straighten" motion, feature simple components, superior durability, and zero energy loss during power transmission. Furthermore, all linear compressors utilize inverter technology, which allows for freely varying motor speeds, enabling more precise refrigerator control.

LG Electronics developed the world's first inverter linear compressor in 2001. Through continuous research and development, the inverter linear compressor has evolved to its fifth generation. Compared to the first generation, the 5th generation has significantly improved performance, including ▲energy efficiency increased by 55%, ▲noise reduced by 15%, and ▲the ability to precisely control the temperature deviation inside the refrigerator to within 0.5℃.

LG Electronics H&A Business Division Kitchen Appliance Business Division Vice President Park Young-il emphasized, “We will expand the application of the ‘inverter linear compressor,’ a core technology of LG refrigerators, to all products so that more customers can experience the differentiated value of LG refrigerators.”
