Audi announced at the 'Audi Summit' held in Barcelona that it plans to equip its sedan model A8 with autonomous driving and mild hybrid technology. The newly released A8 will feature an infotainment system with 4G LTE functionality, and sensors and control panels are manufactured with a full touchscreen, eliminating physical buttons.
The autonomous driving function is composed of a camera, ultrasonic sensors, and a front-mounted radar mounted on the A8. Business Insider reported that based on Audi's highway test drive results, the vehicle successfully achieved complete control at approximately 59km speed even in sections where the lane divides, and is expected to correspond to Level 3 autonomous driving technology. The A8 is scheduled for release in 2019.
