Thales, which supplied security technology to Samsung Artik, targets the domestic market with encryption solutions.

At a meeting held at the Grand Intercontinental Hotel on the 18th, Thales introduced its Hardware Security Module (HSM), Key Management Solution (KMS), and Vormetric Data Security Platform business.
Last year, Thales supplied HSM solutions to Samsung Electronics’ Semiconductor Division’s IoT platform, ARTIK, providing security technology capable of verifying the authenticity and validity of device firmware, thereby enabling more secure communication between devices. The open Samsung ARTIK platform provided all essential hardware and software building blocks, allowing for the rapid and simple development of new enterprise, industrial, and consumer applications.
In addition, key management solutions and encryption were introduced to Kakao Bank and K Bank. Security is critical for internet banks because they require non-face-to-face authentication. It provided an intrusion prevention platform to perform the functions of encryption, digital signatures, key generation, and protection.
Kim Ki-tae, Sales Director of Thales eSecurity, stated, “Interest in security solutions is expanding from the traditional financial sector and large corporations to SMBs,” adding, “Financial companies must protect customers, meet government and industry regulations and standards, and facilitate security and surveillance.” He noted that Thales’ solutions would be useful in preventing data leaks.
CEO Alan Kessler stated, “We supply solutions to 19 of the top 20 banks among our clients, and 80% of global electronic transactions are protected through Thales solutions,” adding that the company plans to strengthen its fintech influence and focus on related industries. Recently, it also supplied 'Vormetric Transparent Encryption' to the financial services company Beyond Platform.
Lee Moon-hyung, Director at Thales eSecurity, explained, “Vormetric Transparent Encryption allows for convenient and stable system operation and management without modifying existing applications and systems, while also shortening implementation periods and reducing additional investment costs. It is gaining popularity among companies looking to establish encryption environments these days as personal information protection requirements are increasing.”

Databricks Unveils Open AI Security Monitoring 'Lakewatch'
