The Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy held a business agreement signing ceremony with participating companies and organizations. Considering the current low penetration of VR devices, the Ministry plans to distribute approximately 10,000 VR devices in collaboration with participating industries. A virtual reality (VR) experience center will be set up within the Korea Sale Festa promotional hall, scheduled to be built in Gwanghwamun Square, open to the public.
In addition, to lower the barriers to entry into the industry, we plan to develop and distribute production software (S/W) to the industry to enable easy production of virtual reality (VR) shopping content.
Jeong Dae-jin, Director General of the Creative Industry Policy Bureau at the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, said, “This virtual (VR) shopping mall pilot project is an important demonstration project to promote the introduction of new technologies of the Fourth Industrial Revolution to the distribution industry at a time when companies like Amazon are leading the paradigm shift in the distribution industry.” He added, “We hope that through this pilot project, our country’s distribution industry will actively innovate and create new business opportunities and markets.”
