Veritas Announces Integrated Classification Engine for Intelligent Data Management

Veritas Technologies has announced a new technology called the "Integrated Classification Engine" that provides powerful intelligence on data risks in both on-premises and cloud environments.
Today, enterprises are facing difficulties in gaining visibility and insights into rapidly growing unstructured data. Unstructured data such as emails, documents, and image files expose enterprises to potential security vulnerabilities and risks of personal identifiable information (PII) leakage.

Veritas' Integrated Classification Engine technology can rapidly scan and tag data to manage and protect sensitive or risky information. It also provides comprehensive visibility into personal identifiable information (PII) and enables enterprises to comply with regulatory requirements that mandate implementing separate retention policies for all data assets regardless of where the data is located.
The Integrated Classification Engine technology is currently applied to Veritas Data Insight 6.0, a data governance solution, and will be introduced in August to Veritas Enterprise Vault 12.2, an information archiving solution. Going forward, it is planned to be integrated across Veritas' entire portfolio of data protection, storage, and governance solutions.
The Integrated Classification Engine supports GDPR and worldwide regulatory compliance, and Data Insight 6.0 effectively detects risks by combining artificial intelligence with classification technology. Enterprise Vault 12.2 leverages classification technology to support intelligence-based retention and search capabilities.
Jason Buffington, Senior Analyst at market research firm ESG, stated, "As data grows to exabyte (EB) scale, enterprises are unable to manage redundant, neglected, or unstructured 'dark data' with varying quality," and added, "Veritas' Integrated Classification Engine provides practical intelligence on what data exists, who owns and accesses it, and how the data is being used."
