LG Electronics has released a video (https://youtu.be/RQmS6mdP438) emphasizing the wide viewing angle of the 'LG Super Ultra HD TV,' also known as the LG NanoCell TV.

LG Electronics highlighted the viewing angle performance of its premium LCD TV, the LG NanoCell TV, by comparing it with a standard LCD TV through a shooting contest featuring British football stars. The participating players were Steven Gerrard, a legend of English football known as 'Captain Gerrard,' and Adam Lallana, currently playing as one of the best midfielders in the English Premier League.

LG Electronics created a large screen using an LG NanoCell TV, which displays accurate colors even from the side, and a standard TV, which has a narrow viewing angle and distorts colors when viewed from the side. The two players kicked the ball from a 60-degree angle to the side and engaged in a shooting contest to hit the highest score among the numbers displayed on the large screen. The game proceeded with each player switching sides between the LG NanoCell TV court and the standard TV court for three minutes in each half.

The two players won by demonstrating accuracy when shooting at a video wall made of LG NanoCell TVs. This is because LG NanoCell TVs display numbers accurately, even when viewed from a 60-degree side, just as they do when viewed from the front. However, on standard TVs, some colors were distorted and difficult to see when viewed from the side, causing errors by the players. For example, when viewed from the side, the yellow '-' sign disappeared, making it look like a '9'.

Gerard said, “I played the first half satisfactorily on the LG NanoCell TV court, then moved to a regular TV court for the second half. When viewed from the side, the colors were distorted, making it difficult to see the minus sign in front of the numbers,” adding, “Unlike regular TVs, the LG NanoCell TV displayed the screen clearly even when viewed from the side.”

Viewing angle is a crucial factor affecting picture quality. TVs with narrow viewing angles may experience a decline in picture performance, such as color reproduction and contrast ratio, when viewed from the side. According to a survey conducted in the U.S. and France by market research firm Ipsos, 60% of viewers watch TV from the side. Furthermore, it was found that over 60% of viewers perceive a difference in picture quality when viewing a standard TV from the side.
