Stratio Advances to International Startup Competition in Israel with Portable Spectroscopy Technology

Stratio, which developed the portable spectrometer 'LinkSquare' based on image sensor technology, won first place in the Korean competition of 'Start Tel Aviv 2017'.
K-ICT Born2Global Center (Director Kim Jong-gap), a startup support organization, announced that it held the final round of the 'Start Tel Aviv 2017' Korean competition at Pangyo Startup Campus together with the Israeli Embassy to Korea and Yozma Group.
This competition is an event to select companies to participate as Korean representatives in 'Start Tel Aviv 2017', an international startup competition hosted by the Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the City of Tel Aviv on September 4-7. Start Tel Aviv 2017 is a major venture event where startups from various countries can exchange and form Israeli networks, with participants from approximately 20 countries worldwide.
It is also a side event of 'DLD Tel Aviv Innovation Festival 2017', a world-renowned startup conference.
Stratio, which ranked first in the final round, will participate in Israel's 'Start Tel Aviv 2017' competition. The Israeli government will cover all round-trip airfare and local accommodation expenses. Additionally, as a member company of Born2Global Center next year, the company will receive various support including professional consulting for overseas expansion, participation in overseas demo days and roadshows, and training.
Five teams advanced to the final round in this Korean preliminary competition. Participating teams include Stratio (CEO Lee Je-hyung), Eden Lux (CEO Park Sung-yong), Geoline (CEO Cho Sung-gyu), IDWare (CEO Joo Dong-won), and FountAI (CEO Oh Seung-jun).
The participating teams garnered attention by showcasing not only Stratio's budget-friendly portable spectrometry technology using smartphones, which won first place, but also electric vehicle charging mobile management and payment solutions, chatbot and AI consulting, IoT-based eye health management products, and cognitive rehabilitation solutions for Alzheimer's disease prevention.
Kim Jong-gap, Director of Born2Global Center, stated, "Starting with this event, we will learn from Israel's leadership in producing global startups and their entrepreneurial ecosystem, and will continue collaboration so that domestic startups can successfully expand into Israel, which remains largely unexplored territory."

MathWorks: "Autonomous drone flight using MATLAB, practical training to be supported next year"
The 4th Mini Drone Autonomous Flight Competition for expanding the foundation of the drone industry was held on the 13th (Thursday) at BEXCO. Co-hosted by Meshworks, Kwangwoon University, and the Korean Institute of Electrical Engineers, the event was conducted in a two-division league format with participation from 5 undergraduate teams and 9 graduate teams from engineering disciplines. The competition looked distinctly different from existing drone competitions. For one, the drones were so small that they were barely visible on the screen, and there was no sign of the excitement found in drone soccer or racing. It was so quiet that one wondered if it had even started.

MathWorks Sponsors Model Car Competition to Design Embedded Control Systems
MassWorks announced that it officially sponsored the "2017 Intelligent Model Car Competition" held at Hanyang University Olympic Gymnasium and hosted by the Department of Future Automotive Engineering at Hanyang University. The competition was co-sponsored by related organizations and companies in the automotive and electrical systems fields, including Hanyang University's Automotive Electronics Control Research Laboratory (ACE Lab), Infineon, the Industry-University Cooperation Foundation, BMW Korea, and Continental. The Intelligent Model Car Competition has been held annually since 2003 to stimulate students' interest in embedded control system design, which is a core technology in eco-friendly vehicles and smart car fields, and to cultivate talented personnel in related areas. In this year's competition, 100 teams from across the country participated and completed given missions using finished model cars that they had manufactured over approximately four months.
