Former CEO Scott Dietzen elected as Chairman of the Board

Pure Storage announced that Charlie Giancarlo has been appointed Chief Executive Officer and member of the Pure Storage Board of Directors.

Charlie Giancarlo, who previously held senior positions at Silver Lake Partners and Cisco Systems, succeeds Scott Dietzen, who was named executive chairman.

From 2007 to 2015, Giancarlo served as Managing Director and Head of Value Creation and Senior Advisor at Silver Lake Partners. At Silver Lake Partners, he was responsible for strategic operational initiatives and business improvement and investment opportunities for portfolio companies. From 2008 to 2009, he served as CEO and Interim Chairman of Avaya. From 1993 to 2007, he held senior leadership positions at Cisco Systems, including Chief Technology Officer and Chief Development Officer. At Cisco, he led an organization of over 30,000 employees responsible for $38 billion in products, and played a key role in expanding the company's global growth.
