A solution for performing transmitter and receiver compliance testing and link equalization verification.

Teledyne LeCroy and Anritsu announced a partnership to deliver the industry's most advanced PCI Express 4.0 (PCIe Gen4) test solutions.

The PCI Express Gen 4 solution consists of Anritsu's Signal Quality Analyzer (SQA) MP1900A BERT, Teledyne LeCroy's LabMaster 10Zi-A oscilloscope, and the QPHY-PCIe4-Tx-Rx software automated test framework. This integrated system provides high-speed IC, device, and network engineers with a complete solution for automated transmitter and receiver compliance testing as well as link equalization verification.

The Teledyne LeCroy/Anritsu solution is easily scalable to 32 Gb/s, making it the first complete solution to meet PCI Express 5.0 (PCIe Gen 5) requirements. The system also supports PCI Express 3.0 (PCIe Gen 3) transmitter, receiver, and link equalization testing, enabling PCI Express ecosystem testing.

“PCIe Gen4 is a critical test area for design engineers, and our joint test solution, which combines the performance of industry-leading equipment, accurately tests for compliance with PCI-SIG standards and performs certification testing,” said Conrad Fernandes, vice president of sales at Teledyne LeCroy. “We expect PCIe Gen5 to be available within two years, and we are protecting our customers’ investments by providing a clear and efficient upgrade path that reduces testing costs accordingly,” he said.
The LabMaster 10-25Zi oscilloscope provides the 25 GHz bandwidth required for PCIe Gen4 transmitter testing and receiver test calibration, and is bandwidth-upgradable to support next-generation serial standards at speeds of 32 Gb/s or higher.

The LabMaster 10-25Zi-A and the soon-to-be-released QPHY-PCIe4-Tx-Rx software option perform all the automated measurements and controls required for PCIe Gen4 transmitter, receiver, and link equalization testing using Anritsu's MP1900A. Debugging PCI Express interfaces is made simple and intuitive with built-in eye diagram and jitter analysis tools, and the PCI Express decoding function that displays decoding results directly on the waveform and in tables.

The SQA MP1900A, a high-speed BERT supporting 2.4 Gb/s to 32.1 Gb/s, enables highly accurate link training and equalization, as well as Link Training and Status State Machine (LTSSM) analysis. The SQA MP1900A integrates an internal pulse pattern generator (PPG) with 10-tap emphasis, a high-sensitivity error detector (ED) with clock recovery and 12 dB variable continuous time linear equalization (CTLE), and the Link Negotiation function required for PCI Express receiver testing. With its ability to generate high-quality waveforms, the MP1900A enables reliable jitter and noise immunity testing.
