Able Store, the official distributor of NAS specialist Synology, held a seminar introducing Synology NAS solutions and IronWolf Health Management (IHM) in Gongganseongsu on the 5th together with global storage specialist Seagate.

IHM, the main topic of the seminar, is a system applied to Seagate's IronWolf series of NAS-specific drives. It was developed in exclusive collaboration with Synology, a leading NAS brand, and is automatically integrated into Synology NAS firmware (DSM 6.1).

To prevent data loss, it monitors the user's environment by collecting additional information related to the NAS's operating environment, such as temperature and humidity, and helps systematically manage the lifespan and management of NAS storage. If a critical error occurs, Seagate Data Recovery Services can be contacted to ensure recovery in a safe environment.

This allows Synology NAS to utilize Seagate HDDs more efficiently and establish a robust security system. In the first session, Seagate Vice President Yongho Cho introduced the useful features of the IHM system, which is automatically embedded in Synology NAS firmware (DSM 6.1).
Deputy Director Cho Yong-ho said, "The IHM system has three main functions: a preventive function through drive environment monitoring, a tuning function that recommends backups before data loss through analysis of hundreds of parameters, and a recovery function through Seagate's Rescue data recovery service."

Additionally, the superiority of the IHM system was explained by comparing it with the general SMART system. IHM can monitor over 200 drive parameters and provides preventative measures and recommendations to take before errors occur, minimizing the possibility of data loss and maintaining optimal performance.

In the second session, Jong-ho Lim, Manager of Able Store, Synology Korea's distributor, explained ransomware prevention and response measures, as well as implementation cases.

Director Lim Jong-ho explained, “The most complete prevention against ransomware is the user’s data management habits, and even if the storage is infected by ransomware, normal data recovery is possible through Synology’s representative functions such as Hyper Backup, Snapshot, and SHA.” He then introduced various Synology deployment cases including Seoul National University Industry-Academic Cooperation Foundation, Design Fever, Ares System, and CMB Broadcasting.
