Drone Racing Competition Held in Miryang
Published2017.09.12 15:35The 4th Korea Aerospace Leisure Sports Festival, the nation's largest aviation event, will be held from September 16 to 17 at the Sports Park in Gakok-dong, Miryang.
The festival, which carries the slogan "Enjoy the sky, fly higher, move toward a more brilliant future," is hosted by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport and will feature six championship competitions including drone racing, paragliding, and skydiving.
Additionally, approximately 20 diverse experience and exhibition programs have been prepared, including F-16 flight simulator experiences, aviation-related VR simulator experiences, model aircraft construction and flying, and tethered hot air balloon rides.
The festival will not only feature aviation leisure content but also include participation from airlines, aviation-related companies, and aviation associations, providing opportunities to experience "aviation safety" and "the future of Korea's aviation industry."
An official from the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport stated, "The 2017 4th Korea Aerospace Leisure Sports Festival to be held in Miryang is expected to become the finest aerospace leisure sports festival of this autumn, with diverse aerial sports competitions, abundant experience programs, and surrounding tourism resources,"
and added, "Going forward, the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport will do its utmost to revitalize aerospace leisure sports as well as foster foundational aviation industries such as drones and to develop a convenient and safe aviation industry."

Drones are entering a phase of regulatory reform, but their widespread adoption will require special legislation.
"Drones are a core issue and topic of the Fourth Industrial Revolution. The drone industry is highly expandable, promising, and an industry that citizens can directly experience." On the 24th, at the '2017 Republic of Korea Drone Policy Forum' held at the National Assembly grounds, Chairman Jo Jeong-sik of the Land, Infrastructure and Transport Committee mentioned the importance of the drone industry with these remarks. This forum was held as a continuation of the 'Drone Industry Development Master Plan Public Hearing' that took place on the 19th of last month, and was hosted by Chairman Jo Jeong-sik of the Land, Infrastructure and Transport Committee and the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, with co-hosting by the Korea Transportation Safety Authority, Korea Drone Industry Association, Korea Transport Institute, and Korea ITS Society. Drones for day/night video acquisition, drones for power transmission tower and line diagnosis, 3D mapping using drones, agricultural drones, and real-time meteorological observation drones equipped with small unmanned aircraft were on display. In addition, drone racing demonstrations by members of the Drone Racing Association, industrial drone demonstrations, and participant experience activities were conducted.

At major exhibitions like 'World IT Show' and 'K Drone Summit', drones are consistently featured. While agricultural and industrial drone exhibitions are also present, the greatest interest is drawn by consumer drones such as 'drone battles', 'drone racing', and 'drone soccer'. This interest in drones continued at the public hearing on the Basic Plan for Drone Industry Development hosted by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport and the 2017 Republic of Korea Drone Policy Forum. Kim, who operates a hobby/leisure drone enthusiast club, stated, "At the last public hearing, I proposed that hobby/leisure drones be considered as well. However, at the policy forum, hobby/leisure drones were excluded again." He expressed curiosity about why the medium to long-term plan for Korea's domestic drone industry is unilaterally focused solely on industrial applications. Drones, identified as a core task and key topic of the Fourth Industrial Revolution, initially started with military applications. They are expected to expand beyond the civilian market for hobbies and filming to include applications in safety inspections, surveillance/surveying, and cargo transportation. The domestic market is also showing a trend of increasing private demand, centered on filming and agricultural uses.

H.Energy has obtained green technology certification from the Small and Medium Business Administration for solar power generation forecasting and I-V curve anomaly diagnosis technology. The AI-based asset management platform SolarOnCare is deployed across more than 3,000 power plants nationwide, achieving a system uptime of 99.82% and a 3.7% improvement in power generation performance. Through real-time data analysis, it protects power generation revenue by detecting and managing minor losses such as module degradation and partial shading early on.
