Symantec has announced 'Symantec DLP (Data Loss Prevention) 15,' a data leakage prevention solution that improves data protection automation and product integration, further strengthening its Information Centric Security solution portfolio.

Symantec DLP 15, announced this time, provides enhanced capabilities to detect, monitor, and protect sensitive or regulated data even in environments where data is transmitted externally and is not controlled.

According to Symantec CISO research 2016, one in three IT security executives cites 'data loss' as the biggest internal threat to companies this year, along with unauthorized shadow apps and malicious users.

The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), scheduled to take effect next year, introduces new compliance obligations for companies and the information they handle, and significantly strengthens penalties and investigations regarding non-compliance. Analysts predict that having visibility and protection capabilities to track data will become a new mandatory requirement.

Symantec's Information Centric Security solution enables external users or cloud applications to store, use, and share sensitive data even outside of the enterprise-managed environment. Enhanced data protection is ensured because the risk of unwanted exposure is reduced by restricting data access to authorized users only. DLP 15 extends these capabilities by strengthening integration with cloud access security brokers (CASB), data classification, user entity behavior analysis, and information-centric encryption solutions to support various communication channels.

Symantec's information-centric security solution can be integrated and used with various products currently in use worldwide, including Symantec DLP 15 + Symantec Cloud Platform CloudSOC (CASB), tagging solution 'Symantec ICT (Information Centric Tagging)', information-centric encryption solution 'Symantec ICE (Information Centric Encryption)', Symantec ICA (Information Centric Analytics), and 'Symantec VIP (Validation and ID Protection Service)' for multi-authentication.
