Akamai Korea announced that it has provided Akamai's 'Media Delivery Solutions' to Nintendo.

Nintendo desperately needed to secure a stable network above all else to launch Super Mario Run and the Nintendo Switch simultaneously. To this end, Nintendo reintroduced the Akamai media delivery solution that it had used when launching the smartphone game app 'Miitomo' in the global market in 2016.

Kenichi Takemoto, a technical executive in the Business Systems Development Group of the Smart Devices Division at Nintendo’s Business Development Department, who is in charge of Super Mario Run, stated, “Given Akamai’s track record, we expected to receive excellent performance and stability. Akamai’s media delivery solution includes various optional features, making it almost like a customized service. This is why we chose Akamai.”

Yoshinori Takata of the Network Infrastructure Development Group within the Network and Information Systems Division of Nintendo’s Platform Technology Development Business Unit, responsible for the Nintendo Switch, stated, “Network stability is paramount because we expect all generations to enjoy the Nintendo Switch. Akamai is the most suitable partner for us as it offers flexible configurations depending on the situation and can safely and reliably transmit various types of traffic globally.” "In fact, we were able to significantly reduce workload and costs after adopting the Akamai solution," he said.
