igus has announced the expansion of its standard range of plastic ball bearings, the xiros. Utilizing igus polymer materials, the xiros are maintenance-free and lubrication-free, and are widely used in a wide range of applications, including the food industry.


Offering a choice of six race materials, xiros' latest product range expansion ensures that the most common dimensions are available straight from stock, allowing users to combine races, balls and cages of different materials to create the right ball bearing for their application.

Plastic ball bearings have advantages over metal counterparts, including being lighter and more economical, as well as being cleaner and having a longer service life. Gyros is particularly suitable for hygienic use in dusty environments due to its lubrication-free design.

igus recently expanded its product selection by adding DIN standard sizes to its Gyros line. Six race types, four cage types, and three ball types are available, offering FDA compliance, electrical insulation, anti-static properties, chemical resistance, and high-temperature resistance, allowing customers to create a bearing with the desired material combination.
