Gurumi Unveils WebRTC-Based Video Calling Platform Technology at IIT-RTC Conference
Published2017.10.10 12:30Video communication platform company Gurumi (CEO Lee Rang-hyeok) presented development and improvement cases of WebRTC-based MCU (Multipoint Control Unit) and exhibited solutions at the 'The IIT RTC Conference and Expo' held at the Illinois Institute of Technology in Chicago, USA.
Gurumi's WebRTC-based MCU allows up to 64 people to make real-time video calls simultaneously, seeing each other's faces, without having to install separate programs such as ActiveX in their browsers.
In this announcement, Gurumi emphasized that the MCU has been structurally improved to reflect the network environment and security needs of customers, and that it has received favorable reviews from corporate and educational institution customers, and that the resource efficiency of the video communication platform has increased.
In addition, he said that although the Korean market still has many services that depend on Internet Explorer, the use of browsers that apply web standards, such as Chrome, is gradually increasing, and thus the number of Gurumi users is rapidly increasing.
He added that he expects more HTML5 and WebRTC-based services to be created that are easy and convenient to use.
Meanwhile, Gurumi received a great response by demonstrating WebRTC-based MCU technology and WebRTC technology at its booth set up at the Expo site and introducing an HTML5-based OpenAPI that allows customers to easily create real-time video communication services according to their needs.

Databricks Unveils Open AI Security Monitoring 'Lakewatch'
Databricks entered the security market on March 24 by unveiling LakeWatch, an open-source agentic SIEM. The core functionality of this product is to integrate and analyze security, IT, and business data in a single environment to support AI-based threat detection and investigation. The company explained that it reduces the limitations of existing security operations centers, which have had to forgo some data due to high cost structures, and enables large-scale data analysis and automation based on open formats and ecosystems.
