ams, Xiaomi Best Innovation Award Winner for Second Time
Published2017.10.30 11:02ams announced that it received the Best Innovation Award at the Xiaomi Core Suppliers Conference 2017 with its optical sensor modules.
At this event, attended by key suppliers from various sectors, Xiaomi recognized the contributions of suppliers that led to the success of multiple flagship smartphones with ams's advanced sensor solutions and contributed to the company's rapid growth last year. Xiaomi has adopted ams's sensor solutions since 2014.
To meet Xiaomi's requirements for advanced optical solutions, ams launched industry-leading miniaturized ambient light sensor and proximity sensor modules (TMD27253, TMD26203) based on IR technology in early 2016. With strong support from ams, Xiaomi's R&D team was able to successfully adopt these innovative optical solutions.

Xiaomi's goal is to become China's leading mobile phone manufacturer within the next two years. At this conference, Xiaomi Chairman Lei Jun announced that the company is currently on a rapid growth trajectory, achieving smartphone shipments of over 23 million units in the second quarter of 2017, a 70% increase compared to the first quarter.
Beyond its strong optical sensor portfolio, ams is focusing on key sensing technologies including environmental, imaging, and audio sectors. These four domains are related to our daily lives, ranging from smartphones to home thermostats and office lighting hubs, and represent high-value technology markets and applications connected to big data through the internet. As the number of interconnected devices increases exponentially, sensor technology is being used extensively as an indispensable element and is taking on increasing importance in the digital ecosystem.

ams announced that it has received the prestigious 'Gold Level Innovation Award' at the 2017 Best of Sensors Expo Awards, held at the Sensors Expo & Conference in San Jose, California, USA, from June 27-29. The technology for which ams received this honor is the Accessory Communications Interface (ACI), which enables Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) headsets to operate without a battery in the earphones when connected to a host device such as a smartphone through a single wire. ams Launches Sensor for 'True Color' in Laptops and Mobile Phones
ams announced the launch of TCS3430, a new true color sensor IC featuring XYZ tri-stimulus method that supports a compact footprint suitable for devices such as notebooks, smartphones, and tablets. The ultra-compact TCS3430 provides illuminance and chromaticity as digital measurements that match the XYZ values of the CIE 1931 Standard Observer to enable true color functionality, allowing it to be used for display management, automatic white balance, or color adjustment features.

ams launches magnetic position sensor that delivers precise rotary position measurements quickly
ams announced the launch of the AS5172A/B magnetic position sensor, a new product equipped with a 2-wire PSI5 interface that enables fast and reliable transmission of precise rotational position measurements. The AS5172A and AS5172B system-on-chip (SoC) devices are non-contact rotational magnetic position sensors for 0° to 360° measurement, capable of absolute angle measurement with high resolution of 14 bits. These sensor products were developed as SEooC (safety element out of context) devices as defined in ISO26262, the automotive safety standard, and feature an extensive on-chip self-diagnostic system. Accordingly, the AS5172A/B is highly ideal for automotive applications where safety is critical, and enables automotive systems to achieve the highest level of ASIL safety requirements.
