Backup solution that protects workloads for over 20 environments

Acronis announced that sales of its enterprise backup and storage management solution, 'Acronis Backup 12.5,' grew by 25% year-over-year. In particular, the Advanced version continues to see high demand as it offers benefits such as cost optimization, data protection, control, and flexibility for hybrid IT environments.

Acronis Backup 12.5 is the only backup solution in the world capable of comprehensively protecting all workloads across more than 20 environments, and supports Amazon Web Services (AWS), Microsoft Azure, VMware, Microsoft, Red Hat, Citrix, Oracle, and various mobile operating systems.

It helps effectively respond to evolving cyber threats by providing features such as easy data management, blockchain-based data verification, and active protection against ransomware. In fact, it was found that Acronis Backup 12.5 users were able to safely protect their data from recent major ransomware incidents such as WannaCry, NotPetya, and Bad Rabbit.

The Advanced version is designed for enterprises where rapid recovery has a critical impact on business, and provides advanced features such as remote automated bare metal recovery and deduplication, WAN optimization, off-host backup management, and user role delegation.

John Zanni, President of Acronis, stated, “More and more companies are realizing that traditional backup methods with poor connectivity cannot safely protect their data. Sales of Acronis backup solutions have surged as demand rises for solutions that are easy to use, protect all types of data, and have low management costs.”

In fact, according to an in-house customer survey conducted by Acronis, 90% of responding companies cited stability as the reason for choosing Acronis Backup 12.5, while 80% cited ease of use. These results are consistent with the findings of a backup service survey conducted by IT Central Station. In this survey, 70% answered that an intuitive and simple UI is the biggest factor in choosing a backup solution, and 91% answered that reliable recovery is the most important feature.

In addition, Acronis was described in a recent Market Note report by market research firm IDC as a company that is “game-changing for the vendor’s future.” IDC also stated in the report that Acronis Backup 12.5 “integrates all user data management and protection regardless of physical environments or application deployment models, heralding innovation in backup and data protection technology.”

According to IDC's Market Note report, the data protection and recovery software market accounts for the largest share of the storage software market and is projected to grow into a $2.3 billion market in Europe by 2021, recording an average annual growth rate of 5.5%. IDC also forecasted that the demand for data protection tools will further increase to prepare for the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), which came into effect in May 2018.
