NI Releases Data-Verifiable Management Software
Published2017.11.20 10:27National Instruments announced the launch of its Data Management Software Suite. This enterprise software solution provides a complete workflow to standardize measurement data for all teams, mine data to extract useful insights, transform data through automated analytics, and deliver reports containing key insights.
Dave Wilson, Vice President of Platform Software at NI, stated, “The volume of data collected for device testing, physical asset monitoring, and product design analysis continues to explode.” He added, “As the volume of collected data grows exponentially, repeatable automation processes must be established to derive critical insights. Since data inconsistencies and errors often lead to incorrect results, it is necessary for engineers to manually inspect and verify all data before sending it to manual or automated analysis processes.”
NI's data management software suite aims to streamline this workflow by introducing the latest product, Analysis Server, along with new server-based software capabilities. The Analysis Server supports engineers and scientists in automating the search, standardization, analysis, and reporting of large volumes of measurement data.
The data management software suite possesses sufficient flexibility to integrate with customers' existing data formats and IT infrastructure, allowing any team to add powerful data management capabilities as long as they have a Windows system and network connection. This NI platform performs nanosecond-scale advanced analytics and reads/writes of analytical data, and provides the ability to standardize metadata for analytics automation.
Barry Hutt, CEO of Viviota, an NI Alliance Partner and data management company, said, “Vivota has supported major automotive manufacturers using its data management software suite and helped them reduce the time required to analyze data generated from one of their component tests from 10 hours to 7 hours. This essentially shortened the test cycle to one day.”
With the launch of Analysis Server, NI’s server-based data management solution built on DIAdem and DataFinder Server, this suite can now be extended to include automated data processing. Engineers can now secure key insights early on without manual work, while retaining original measurement data for use in searches and further investigations. The data management software suite combines these highly interactive software products into a single enterprise solution, supporting increased test data standardization and rapid data transformation into insights to accelerate time-to-market.

NI and Innovari Sign Technology Agreement to Increase Grid Operations Utilization and Reduce Costs
National Instruments announced that it has entered into a technology partnership with Innovari to support public utilities worldwide in improving system utilization rates, effectively managing distributed energy resources, and enhancing relationships among customers, local communities, and regulatory agencies. Innovari's IEP (Interactive Energy Platform) uses NI technology-based grid edge hardware, artificial intelligence, big data analytics, and proprietary optimization routines to deliver sufficient capacity and meet grid requirements. KCP&L (Kansas City Power & Light) has adopted a forward-looking strategy that views grid edge resources as an opportunity rather than a threat and regards users as partners rather than mere billing customers. KCP&L stated that it implemented the IEP solution because IEP technology provides real-time, deep situational awareness information to the grid, supporting performance optimization by reducing the likelihood of outages and shortening outage duration. National Instruments has announced a new model of PXI FlexRIO architecture that integrates mezzanine I/O modules with Xilinx Kintex UltraScale FPGA. Databricks Unveils Open AI Security Monitoring 'Lakewatch'
Databricks entered the security market on March 24 by unveiling LakeWatch, an open-source agentic SIEM. The core functionality of this product is to integrate and analyze security, IT, and business data in a single environment to support AI-based threat detection and investigation. The company explained that it reduces the limitations of existing security operations centers, which have had to forgo some data due to high cost structures, and enables large-scale data analysis and automation based on open formats and ecosystems. LakeWatch is currently offered as a private preview, with Adobe and Dropbox mentioned as early customers.
