Purpose of promoting cooperation for the overseas expansion of domestic companies

SK Telecom announced that ICT experts from 15 developing countries and a group of journalists from major Indian media visited the state-of-the-art ICT experience center 'T.um' on the afternoon of the 27th to experience South Korea's cutting-edge ICT technology.

This visit to Korea by ICT experts from 15 developing countries was made possible as the Korea Information and Communication Technology Industry Promotion Agency (KIPA) conducted an invitation training program for ICT experts from developing nations. The purpose of the invitation is to build friendly cooperative relations in the ICT sector with developing countries and to promote cooperation for the overseas expansion of domestic companies. The visit was decided upon because 'Tium' is a representative space where one can vividly experience Korea's cutting-edge ICT technology.

Twenty-five opinion leaders in the ICT sector, including government officials, professors, and researchers from 15 countries such as Bangladesh, Ethiopia, and Colombia, toured 'Tium' for about an hour to experience the present and future of South Korea's ICT. After the tour, they also took the time to ask SK Telecom officials detailed questions about quantum cryptography and immersive media technologies.

Following this, a group of reporters from India's 15 major media outlets had an experience session. This visit by the Indian media to Korea was arranged through an invitation event hosted by the Korean Embassy in India. The purpose is to introduce Korea's development experience in line with the four major policies* of the Indian government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The visit to 'Tium' was decided because it is a space full of content worth referencing for implementing the 'Digital India' policy.

Twenty journalists from 15 major Indian media outlets, including Times of India, Dainik Jargran, and Aaj Tak, spent about an hour exploring 'Tium' and reporting on content that could serve as a reference for the implementation of the 'Digital India' policy. Prior to the experience, they also spent about 30 minutes listening to a presentation on SK Telecom's core 5G technologies and Internet of Things (IoT) business.

'Tium' is also being utilized for IT training for Korean civil servants. The National Human Resources Development Institute visited 'Tium' as a field experience site for two training courses held in October and November: 'SW-Centered Intelligent Information Society' and 'Informatization Trends & Future Strategies.' Ninety civil servants participating in these courses visited 'Tium' to experience cutting-edge ICT technologies and reflect on the role of civil servants in future society.
