Daewon CTS, Launches Micron MX500 to Surpass the Reputation of 'Zombie SSD'
SILICON SM2258 Integration Delivers High Performance, Ultra-Low Power, and Extended Durability
Daewon CTS announced that it will exclusively introduce the Micron MX500, the successor to the Micron MX300.
The Micron MX500, like the MX300, employs 3D TLC NAND flash, a technology that increases integration density by stacking circuits in a three-dimensional vertical structure rather than the conventional two-dimensional planar approach. Unlike other SSDs that suffered frequent errors due to narrow cell spacing when arranged in a plane, 3D NAND stacks layers differently to minimize electron interference with wider spacing, enabling higher capacity installations. This allows the drive to be launched with a base capacity of 1TB at a more reasonable price point.
Furthermore, when comparing a standard hard drive with the Micron MX500, through low-power design it provides up to 45 times greater energy efficiency compared to conventional hard drives, delivering extended usage time on notebooks and portable devices.
Additionally, the Micron MX500 integrates the SILICON SM2258 controller solution to support 3D NAND technology, unlike the Marvell controller applied to the Micron MX300. The SM2258 provides the high performance, ultra-low power consumption, extended durability, and data preservation features required in SSDs, helping users experience the Micron MX500's superior performance.

Based on Silicon Motion's proprietary NANDXtend technology, RAID protection technology, and LDPC decoding technology, the SM2258 triples the write/erase cycles of 3D NAND, extending SSD lifespan, and features algorithms that optimally maintain TLC NAND performance, delivering highly efficient functionality.
Speed improvements are also revolutionary. While the previous Micron MX300 also earned acclaim for fast performance, the Micron MX500 1TB achieves 560MB/s—30MB/s faster across all file types—demonstrating high-level read speeds, and likewise supports random read/write speeds of up to 95k/90k across all file types.
With the 1TB high capacity, users can store family videos, travel photos, music, and important work documents. The drive protects data safely from hackers and thieves through AES 256-bit hardware-based encryption, and the included Acronis True Image software facilitates easy OS and data migration from previous HDDs, eliminating the inconvenience of replacement.
Installation is also straightforward. Step-by-step guidance supports the installation process for easy completion, and since there are no easily damaged removable components, superior durability compared to hard drives is achieved, enabling simple installation even for those unfamiliar with SSDs.
Additionally, integrated power loss protection preserves all saved work even if power is unexpectedly cut, and consuming only 100mW of power offers advantages in low power consumption and heat dissipation. With minimal noise, users are not disturbed by operational noise, and by extending notebook battery life, it enhances user convenience.
A Daewon CTS representative in charge of domestic supply of the Micron Crucial MX500 stated, "We are pleased to unveil the high-capacity, high-efficiency SSD storage Micron MX500, born after a one-year gap," and explained, "The Micron MX500 is optimized for any use case from office work to gaming, so all users who encounter the Micron MX500 will experience satisfaction."
