Equipped with hinges for fine angle adjustment, freeing up installation location restrictions

LG Electronics will unveil a new 'LG 4K UHD Projector' with ultra-high definition and ease of use at 'CES 2018'.

The 'LG 4K UHD Projector (Model Name: HU80KA)' features 4K UHD (3,840 x 2,160) resolution. It delivers the highest level of image quality for a home projector. This product was recognized for its excellence by the Consumer Technology Association (CTA), the organizer of CES. It received the 'CES 2018 Best Innovation Award,' which is given only to the best products in the 'Home Audio-Video Components and Accessories' category.

With a brightness of 2,500 ANSI lumens, this product is 25% brighter than previous models. The screen diagonal measures a whopping 380 cm (150 inches). It can also play HDR content produced according to the 'HDR 10' standard.

The 'LG 4K UHD Projector' has overcome the installation limitations of conventional beam projectors. LG Electronics applied a lens cover to the top of the product, which is shaped like a long rectangular prism. The lens cover is equipped with hinges so that it opens like a car trunk door. A mirror with finely adjustable angle is installed on the inside of the cover, allowing the user to adjust the position where the video is displayed.

Users can project the screen at their desired position and height simply by adjusting the mirror angle. There is no need to move the product around or adjust the height as with conventional projectors. By fully flipping the cover back, the screen can even be projected onto the ceiling. Unlike traditional projectors, there is no need to attach a tripod to stand the product upright or install a table to place it on in order to match the screen size to the ceiling.

It is also convenient for moving and storage. Equipped with a handle, the product is light enough for a user to move with one hand. Its dimensions (width 165mm, depth 165mm, height 470mm) and weight (6.5kg) are also about half that of comparable projectors. LG Electronics simplified the structure by applying an elongated 'I'-shaped engine. This is the secret to achieving high performance while reducing the size. Additionally, much like a vacuum cleaner, the power cord retracts into the product when the user presses a button located at the bottom.

LG Electronics has applied its smart TV platform, 'webOS,' to this product. Users can access various content streaming services simply by connecting to the internet.

Jang Ik-hwan, Senior Vice President and Head of LG Electronics’ IT Business Division, emphasized, “We will bring another innovation to the home projector market with the ‘LG 4K UHD Projector,’ which allows users to conveniently view high-definition, large-screen video.”
