Acronis announced the launch of 'Acronis Ransomware Protection,' a solution that blocks AI-based ransomware in real time and enables users to immediately recover their data.

'Acronis Ransomware Protection' can be used alongside existing antivirus (AV) solutions and backup software to protect against variant ransomware that encrypts data by circumventing antivirus software. It monitors system processes in real time to automatically detect and stop attacks. When ransomware attacks are executed, it blocks malicious processes and provides user notifications via pop-up. If files are damaged by attacks, immediate recovery of those files is possible.



Additionally, through cloud backup functionality, it supports data protection not only from ransomware but also from data loss caused by physical accidents such as hardware failures and natural disasters. Upon account setup, all users are provided with 5GB of free 'Acronis Cloud' capacity.

Acronis Ransomware Protection features easy installation and operates as a lightweight 20MB program with minimal resource burden, enabling operation in the background without affecting system performance. Furthermore, it can operate alongside major backup software and antivirus programs, allowing an additional protection layer to be added without modifying existing settings.

According to a recent ransomware survey conducted by Acronis, 57.5% of respondents were unaware that ransomware deletes files and renders computers unusable. Only 9.2% of respondents had heard of attacks such as WannaCry and NotPetya that occurred in the past year, and 37.4% answered they have no knowledge of data protection methods against ransomware. Additionally, 55.5% of respondents answered they would use a freely provided ransomware protection solution if available.
