Gathering creative ideas from small and medium enterprises
Published2018.02.13 15:34The Ministry of Science and ICT is launching a call for proposals from the 13th for IoT product/service validation and dissemination projects to foster small and medium-sized enterprises in the Internet of Things sector.
The Ministry of Science and ICT will support approximately 9.4 billion won this year to discover small and medium-sized enterprises with creative ideas and innovative capabilities in the IoT field and cultivate them as key players in the Fourth Industrial Revolution.
Through this project, various IoT products and services are being launched and disseminated in the market, generating tangible results. This year, it is expected that diverse commercialization opportunities will be provided to IoT small and medium-sized enterprises.
The IoT Product/Service Validation and Dissemination Project supports market entry and commercialization of innovative products and services for small and medium-sized enterprises in the IoT field.
The project will be conducted through open call format to enable creative ideas from diverse sectors including the public sector, industrial sites, and daily life to develop into products and services. Through comprehensive evaluation of implementing organization capabilities, appropriateness of implementation methods, and commercialization feasibility, approximately 20 new projects (7.6 billion won scale) are planned to be selected.
Additionally, services that demonstrated excellent results among the projects supported in 2017 are planned to receive additional support (1.8 billion won scale) for one year to expand pilot application scope and enhancement to enable early market dissemination.
Choi Young-hae, Internet Convergence Policy Officer at the Ministry of Science and ICT, stated, "We will focus on facilitating early market dissemination of diverse IoT products and services from small and medium-sized enterprises that the public can utilize and experience, thereby promoting IoT convergence across the nation and securing competitiveness."

Launching a pilot service to resolve security blind spots for SMEs
The Ministry of Science and ICT announced that it is promoting a pilot service to eliminate security blind spots for small and medium-sized enterprises and to create a new cloud-based security service model. Security services will be provided to companies housed at the Convergence Technology Research and Production Center of the Electronics and Telecommunications Research Institute (ETRI) on a voluntary basis. 10 Things Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises Should Commercialize in the Fourth Industrial Revolution
There are many technologies leading the Fourth Industrial Revolution, including big data, autonomous vehicles, IoT, and artificial intelligence. H.Energy has obtained green technology certification from the Small and Medium Business Administration for solar power generation forecasting and I-V curve anomaly diagnosis technology. The AI-based asset management platform SolarOnCare is deployed across more than 3,000 power plants nationwide, achieving a system uptime of 99.82% and a 3.7% improvement in power generation performance. Through real-time data analysis, it protects power generation revenue by detecting and managing minor losses such as module degradation and partial shading early on.
