'Make a Golden Dog' Enjoy the holidays at the ICT Igloo
Published2018.02.14 09:47SK Telecom announced that it will hold the "Lunar New Year with 5G Event" at the "ICT Igloo" set up in front of City Hall Plaza for families who wish to create special memories for the Lunar New Year holiday.
This event, held for three days from today (the 14th) to the 16th, consists of ‘Make a Golden Dog’ and ‘5G Spinning Top Race’ that the whole family can participate in at a special stage set up in front of the ‘ICT Igloo’.
In 'Make a Golden Dog', you throw 3 to 4 large yut sticks, and if you make a 'Golden Dog' with 2 or more golden backs among them, you can receive a prize.
The '5G Spinning Top Race' is an event where participants complete a race track shaped like 5G using a robot spinning top, and prizes are awarded based on ranking.
Hosted by the Korea Industrial Skating Federation and the Korea Ski Association and sponsored by SK Telecom, 'ICT Igloo' is an advanced... implemented based on 5G technologyAs an ICT experience center, visitors can enjoy videos of the Arctic aurora and snowflakes using 360-degree virtual reality technology, and participate in various activities such as snowball fights and sledding races based on VR technology.

KT announced that it will implement the PyeongChang Gold Medal Promotion, which offers 500MB of data coupons to all customers who participate in an online event at KT stores during the PyeongChang Olympics period. Experience 5G with ICT Igloo
SK Telecom announced that over 100 global telecommunications experts from the ITU visited the 'ICT Igloo' set up in the plaza in front of Seoul City Hall over the weekend and experienced South Korea's advanced 5G technology and services. The 'Igloo Festival', which runs until February 25th, is an event hosted by the Korea Speed Skating Union and the Korea Ski Association. SK Telecom, as a sponsor, supported the installation of the 'ICT Igloo', an experiential space designed to create special winter memories for visitors.

LG Uplus Seeks Partners to Implement 5G
LG U+ issued a Request For Proposal (RFP) for 5G network equipment procurement and held a briefing session attended by Nokia, Samsung Electronics, Ericsson, LG, and Huawei, during which it presented 5G commercialization strategies, preparation status, and project schedules. Additionally, it explained detailed technical specifications and business requirements for equipment based on the NSA (Non-Standalone) standard included in the RFP. The RFP also included requirements for simultaneous support of both NSA and SA (Standalone). 5G base stations supporting Massive MIMO, RRUs (Remote Radio Units) compatible with separate antennas, and 5G repeaters were all designed to be supported. As a result, it committed to taking the lead in building a 5G ecosystem based on coexistence between large, medium, and small enterprises, enabling domestic small and medium-sized equipment companies in the antenna and repeater sectors to participate in the future.

European Patent Applications Surpass 200,000 for the First Time… South Korea Maintains 5th Place, Led by Batteries and Telecommunications
According to the European Patent Office (EPO)'s 'Technology Dashboard 2025', European patent applications last year reached 201,974, surpassing 200,000 for the first time. Korean companies and inventors filed 14,355 applications, representing a 9.5% increase from the previous year and maintaining 5th place by country. Battery, digital communication, and semiconductor technologies led the growth, with Samsung ranking as the top EPO applicant for the second consecutive year and LG reaching 3rd place. The presence of major domestic cities such as Seoul, Suwon, and Yongin was also confirmed. It was also revealed that Korea's European patent strategy is expanding beyond individual technologies to span the entire industry.

SK Telecom First Applies AI-Based Network Operations at Gwanghwamun K-Pop Concert
SK텔레콤이 3월 21일 서울 광화문 일대에서 열린 대형 K-팝 공연에 AI 기반 네트워크 운영 시스템을 처음 적용해 통신 품질을 관리했다고 밝혔다. 공연 전후 3시간 동안 모바일 데이터 사용량은 12.15TB로 직전 주말 같은 시간대보다 약 2배 늘었다. SK텔레콤은 AI 시스템 ‘A-One’을 활용해 5분 단위, 50m 단위로 트래픽을 감시하며 과부하 가능성에 대응했고, 임시 통신 시설과 현장 인력 운영도 병행했다. 밀집 행사와 외국인 이용 수요가 동시에 늘어나는 환경에서 AI 기반 자율 네트워크 운영의 현장 적용 가능성을 확인한 사례로 해석된다.
