First Participating Companies in Open Source Network Function Virtualization Certification Program
Huawei, Nokia, ZTE and Others Agree on Framework Establishment and POC and RFP Criteria Setting

Wind River announced its participation in the Open Platform for NFV (OPNFV) Certification Program (OVP) by the Linux Foundation. Designed to simplify the adoption process of commercial NFV products, OVP provides industry benchmarks based on OPNFV features and test cases. Wind River is able to use the OVP logo alongside Huawei, Nokia, and ZTE.

OPNFV member companies, including telecommunications operators, have agreed on an initial set of features through collaboration that helps establish the framework and set item criteria for POC and RFP.



The initial version of OVP, which uses both vendor proprietary and third-party experimental testing, undergoes testing and validation of NFV infrastructure component features including NFVi, VIM, basic cloud infrastructure, basic packet forwarding, IPv6, and VPN.

Wind River is focusing on ensuring interoperability with supplier products through its Wind River Titanium Cloud portfolio, composed of virtualization software platforms, enabling telecommunications operators to select multi-vendor solutions when building NFV.

To this end, Wind River has verified and demonstrated 100% compliance with open standards through plugfest-level projects such as ETSI and OPNFV, as well as the Titanium Cloud partner ecosystem comprising over 50 member companies.

Woo-Young Choi, Executive Vice President of Network Business at Wind River Korea, said, "Open standards will promote the development of solutions that enable interoperability and operation among multiple vendors, thereby preventing the risk of vendor lock-in. We expect OVP to continue to evolve and become the de facto standard through which all NFV and NFVi vendors test their solutions."
