Huawei Presents 'Future of Mobile Computing' with 3 New Products at MWC 2018
Published2018.02.26 16:15Huawei announced a total of three new products at 'MWC 2018 (Mobile World Congress 2018)' that provide users with an innovative mobile computing experience.
At this MWC, Huawei unveiled the 'HUAWEI MateBook X Pro', the 'HUAWEI MediaPad M5 Series' tablet, and the world's first commercial '5G Customer Premises Equipment (CPE)' supporting the 5G technology standards of the 3GPP (3rd Generation Partnership Project), demonstrating technological capabilities encompassing new design and performance.
Huawei CEO Richard Yu stated, "Huawei is pursuing the vision of an 'All-Connected World' and is conducting research and development of significant scale and depth to understand how humans interact with and connect with technology." He further emphasized, "We have redefined the mobile computing experience by introducing the MateBook X Pro, Huawei MediaPad M5 series, and 3GPP 5G customer in-home devices."
The Huawei MateBook X Pro and Huawei MediaPad M5 series are scheduled to be released in China, Europe, North America, the Asia-Pacific region, and the Middle East starting in the spring of 2018.
HUAWEI MateBook X Pro
The Huawei MateBook X Pro is a 13.9-inch ultra-slim laptop featuring a 3K touch-enabled Huawei FullView Display and a 91% screen-to-body ratio. It realizes an ultra-lightweight, high-performance laptop by equipping it with 8th Gen Intel Core i7/i5 processors, an optional 2GB GDDR5 NVIDIA® GeForce MX150 graphics card, and a long-lasting 57.4Wh (rated capacity) battery. The Huawei MateBook X Pro also features a Dolby Atmos sound system that delivers vivid sound through Dolby Atmos® and custom speakers.
HUAWEI MediaPad M5 Series
The ergonomically designed Huawei MediaPad M5 is a high-performance 8.4-inch/10.8-inch tablet equipped with a 2.5D glass screen and a 2K HD Clariveu 5.0 display, featuring speakers from the global audio brand Harman Kardon. Huawei's 'Histen' technology provides users with a more immersive 3D audio experience, allowing them to enjoy exceptional high-quality sound. In addition, when purchasing the 10.8-inch Huawei MediaPad M5 Pro, the Huawei M-Pen with 4,096 levels of pressure sensitivity is provided, allowing you to perform tasks such as handwriting realistically and conveniently.
3GPP Standard 5G Customer Home Equipment (3GPP Standard 5G CPE)
Huawei's 5G customer home device is the world's first to support 3GPP's 5G communication standards. It is configured for indoor and outdoor use, provides ultra-high-speed download speeds of up to 2Gbps, and is compatible with both 4G and 5G networks. The 3GPP 5G customer home device adopts the Balong 5G01, the world's first commercially available chipset developed in-house by Huawei that supports 3GPP 5G standards, and is compatible with all 5G frequency bands, including sub-6GHz and millimeter wave (MMW).

Databricks Unveils Open AI Security Monitoring 'Lakewatch'
Databricks entered the security market on March 24 by unveiling LakeWatch, an open-source agentic SIEM. The core functionality of this product is to integrate and analyze security, IT, and business data in a single environment to support AI-based threat detection and investigation. The company explained that it reduces the limitations of existing security operations centers, which have had to forgo some data due to high cost structures, and enables large-scale data analysis and automation based on open formats and ecosystems. LakeWatch is currently offered as a private preview, with Adobe and Dropbox mentioned as early customers. Databricks also announced an expanded partnership with Anthropic as well as the acquisition of Antimatter and SiftD.ai.
