Protect workloads and applications by building powerful data protection capabilities into snapshots

Veritas announced Veritas CloudPoint 2.0, which provides snapshot-based data protection for Google Cloud Platform.

Cloud Point 2.0 adds robust data protection capabilities to Google Cloud's native snapshot features, providing customers of both companies with enhanced simplification and discovery in multi-cloud environments, as well as new workload and application protection.

A year ago, as part of a global strategic partnership, Veritas announced several technologies to provide the latest data management capabilities to Google Cloud Platform customers. With enterprises recently adopting Google Cloud for core infrastructure, data analytics, and machine learning capabilities, enhanced cloud solutions that can protect and easily recover data are becoming increasingly important.

A true multi-cloud solution for the cloud
Cloud Point 2.0 automatically discovers and protects Google Cloud workloads. It provides application consistency for Google Cloud Platform Persistent Disk Snapshots, indexing for single file restoration, replication for disaster recovery, and makes it easy to discover and delete personally identifiable information (PII). It supports industry-leading search capabilities to help companies comply with global regulatory requirements.

According to a Veritas Cloud report surveying cloud adoption status and perceptions, more than two-thirds of companies responded that they are currently using or plan to use two or more cloud service providers. Of these, 68% were found to be using backup solutions from the same cloud service provider. Since many companies also deploy legacy on-premises solutions for data protection, it is highly likely that they are using three or more backup tools simultaneously.

CloudPoint 2.0 provides the following features to enterprises.

Simplified data protection: Enterprises do not need to manage multiple backup tools for individual clouds. CloudPoint 2.0 allows you to manage and coordinate critical enterprise data protection features, such as detailed search and recovery, agentless protection, and scaling workload support, from an intuitive central dashboard.

Compliance Risk Mitigation : CloudPoint 2.0 is a data protection solution that discovers, classifies, and protects Google Cloud Platform instances while supporting the deletion of personally identifiable information (PII). It is optimized for companies that must comply with strict industry regulations, such as the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) or the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA).

Enhanced Disaster Recovery and Workload Support : The latest CloudPoint 2.0 adds region replication capabilities from the same cloud service provider to support enhanced disaster recovery. This solution supports new workloads and applications such as MongoDB, Microsoft SQL, and VMware.
