SK Telecom sparks Korean wave in coding education in Barcelona

SK Telecom is collaborating with the Global Mobile Communications Association (GSMA) and Telefónica to promote Korean coding education in Barcelona.
SK Telecom announced that it will operate the 'Smart Robot Coding School' as a regular curriculum to help provide software development education for children at 'La Salle Bonanova' elementary school in downtown Barcelona. This course utilizes the smart robot 'Albert' and smart devices to help children understand mathematical concepts and learn 'coding' easily.
In particular, 'Smart Robot Coding School' is a software education program of SK Telecom that won the 'Global Enterprise Award' in the education category at the 'ITU Telecom World 2017 Awards,' an international ICT awards ceremony held last September.
The 'Smart Robot Coding School' introduced at 'La Salle Bonanova' Elementary School consists of content such as the 'Analog Coding Classroom' where coding can be learned without a power connection, 'Math King Albert' which develops mathematical skills, and 'Soccer King Albert' which incorporates sports.
To this end, SK Telecom plans to donate the smart robot 'Albert,' a coding educational tool, and content in Spanish, while Telefónica plans to provide professional coding instructors. The GSMA will emphasize the necessity of basic coding education by introducing pilot coding schools through 'M School,' a program linked to MWC.
This cooperative relationship was established through 'YoMo (Youth Mobile Festival),' an ICT festival for children and youth held concurrently during last year's MWC. At the time, SK Telecom operated 'Tium Mobile,' a mobile ICT experience center, and showcased cutting-edge ICT classes, including smart robot coding education, VR, AR, and holograms, to children in the Barcelona region in Spanish and English.
"SK Telecom's Communication Center Director, Yoon Yong-cheol, said, 'As part of the 'development where no one is left behind' being discussed in the UN's Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), the importance of coding education for children is increasingly being emphasized. Based on the know-how gained from conducting smart robot coding education projects with Telefónica since 2014, we have prepared experiential programs that are actually helpful overseas.'"

SKT Upgrades Hybrid IoT Network with 'LTE cat.M1' Deployment
SK Telecom announced the completion of 'LTE Cat.M1' construction, a nationwide IoT network following its 'LoRa' network, and disclosed plans for commercialization in April, upgrading its existing 'hybrid IoT network'. 'LTE Cat.M1' is a technology standardized by 3GPP, the international standardization body, and offers the advantage of enabling transmission of low-capacity video and HD-grade photos and voice. With this commercialization, SK Telecom can now provide complete IoT network coverage alongside its 'LoRa' network, which is suitable for low-power and low-capacity data transmission.

SKT Wins "Enterprise Mobile Service Innovation Award," the Telecom Industry's Oscar
SK Telecom announced that its 'LiveCare' service won the 'Enterprise Mobile Service Innovation Award' at the MWC 2018 GSMA Global Mobile Awards. This category honors companies that showcase services and products capable of contributing to enterprise productivity improvements in areas such as data management, service innovation, and security. 'LiveCare' is an IoT livestock management system developed through collaboration between SK Telecom and Youlike Korea, enabling farm owners to monitor cattle conditions in real-time. The service deploys a biocapsule equipped with an IoT communication module in the first stomach (rumen) of cattle to check body temperature and pH levels, thereby providing various information including disease and calving sign detection and optimal breeding timing prediction.

SalePoint Signs Multi-Year Partnership Agreement with AWS… Promoting Identity Security that Integrates Even AI Agents
Sailpoint has entered into a multi-year strategic partnership agreement with AWS and is moving forward with establishing an integrated governance system that manages both human and non-human identities together. Databricks Unveils Open AI Security Monitoring 'Lakewatch'
Databricks entered the security market on March 24 by unveiling LakeWatch, an open-source agentic SIEM. The core functionality of this product is to integrate and analyze security, IT, and business data in a single environment to support AI-based threat detection and investigation. The company explained that it reduces the limitations of existing security operations centers, which have had to forgo some data due to high cost structures, and enables large-scale data analysis and automation based on open formats and ecosystems. LakeWatch is currently offered as a private preview, with Adobe and Dropbox mentioned as early customers. Databricks also announced an expanded partnership with Anthropic as well as the acquisition of Antimatter and SiftD.ai.
