Wearable camera market size expected to increase when Personal Image Information Protection Act goes into effect

Topfield announced that it has signed a partnership with CDP World, which developed an IP-based wearable body cam using domestic technology, and is making a full-scale foray into the wearable body cam market.

Topfield's strategy is to pioneer the wearable body camera market, focusing on the security and video surveillance fields, while gradually expanding its user base.

In the United States, wearable body cameras are so widely used that police officers are required to wear them, but in Korea, they have been difficult to distribute due to issues such as personal information protection. However, with the ‘Personal Video Information Protection Act’ soon to be implemented, the use of portable cameras for security purposes is expected to be permitted in Korea as well, so demand is expected to increase.



The 'V-CAM' developed by CDP World with domestic technology is an IP wearable camera. It provides excellent system expandability and convenience through IP, and users can download and check data by connecting to an existing network. It supports HD video based on the H.264 codec and audio performance through the AAC codec, and provides an intuitive LED display and GPS function, a 32GB Micro SD card, pre-recording function, various operation guidance modes, and a high-speed charging function.

In addition, Topfield is also paying attention to the potential of wearable body cams as video production equipment for individual users and plans to open up new markets targeting individual video producers who are familiar with action cams. To this end, they will also work to raise awareness of 'V-CAM' among the general public through the tvN drama 'Live' starring Jung Yu-mi and Lee Kwang-soo, which is scheduled to air starting in March.
