Veritas Launches Integrated Software Storage Supporting Long-Term Data Retention
Published2018.03.07 15:06Veritas Technologies has expanded its SDS solution portfolio by announcing the Veritas Access Appliance, an integrated software-defined storage appliance that supports multi-cloud capabilities and long-term data retention, and Veritas Cloud Storage, an object storage solution for massive amounts of unstructured data.
As the volume of data and data storage costs continue to increase exponentially, advanced software-defined storage capabilities are in greater demand than ever before. According to the Veritas 2017 Data Genomics Survey, which analyzed over 31 billion anonymized files worldwide, corporate data repositories are growing by nearly 50% (48.7%) annually due to the proliferation of new technologies and applications, such as Artificial Intelligence (AI) and the Internet of Things (IoT), that utilize large-scale data sets. With data increasing at such a rapid pace, methods for companies to store and manage data more efficiently are becoming increasingly important.

Databricks Unveils Open AI Security Monitoring 'Lakewatch'
Databricks entered the security market on March 24 by unveiling LakeWatch, an open-source agentic SIEM. The core functionality of this product is to integrate and analyze security, IT, and business data in a single environment to support AI-based threat detection and investigation. The company explained that it reduces the limitations of existing security operations centers, which have had to forgo some data due to high cost structures, and enables large-scale data analysis and automation based on open formats and ecosystems.
