Electric Bicycles Can Be Ridden on Bicycle Paths Starting the 22nd

Starting from the 22nd of this month, electric bicycles can be ridden on bicycle paths.

As the 'Bicycle Use Activation Act' has been amended, while electric bicycles can be ridden on bicycle paths, not all electric bicycles are permitted. Only the PAS method, where the electric motor operates solely when pedaling to provide assistance, is allowed; motor operation is prohibited at speeds of 25 km/h or higher; and operation is only possible for units weighing less than 30 kg.

At the '2nd Smart Mobility Fair' that opened on the 16th at Ilsan KINTEX, various mobility products were showcased including multiple types of electric bicycles, electric kickboards, electric wheels, electric boards, ultra-compact electric vehicles, and electric two-wheelers.

Alton Sports unveiled various new PAS method products including Nemo FD, Nemo 27.5, Spade Light, Inogen, and police electric bicycles. The Nemo FD is a foldable electric bicycle being introduced for the first time, focusing on convenient folding, portability, storage capacity, and lightweight design. The battery has a USB port on the exterior, supporting charging as well.

Aikabot showcased new lineup models of CURRUS including RS11 and G8. The G8, which focuses on compact design, and the RS11, equipped with inverted suspension on an electric kickboard, are products developed with the goal of stable riding and braking.

An Aikabot representative explained, "When you engage the front brake, the vehicle tilts forward and the rear wheel lifts, causing a rollover accident. The CURRUS RS is equipped with an inverted hydraulic suspension on the front wheels, so the suspension operates hydraulically, preventing the rear wheel from lifting even when the front brake is engaged."

The representative stated, "The maximum speed reaches 70 km/h, but due to legal speed limits, we have set the limiter to 25 km/h. Considering terrain such as uphill slopes, the maximum driving range is approximately 50 to 60 km, and with a dual six-hour charge, the maximum driving range can be achieved. If institutional conditions are established and an environment where people can ride is secured, it will be utilized as a personal mobility solution."

This event focused on experience. In addition to the Ninebot experience zone, a 160m test drive course was set up on-site. With a hill installed in the middle of the course, anyone can learn how to operate any product they wish to test drive from the exhibition booth, rent it, and experience it by signing a test drive consent form.

A visitor who completed the experience said, "I rode an electric kickboard for the first time. It was easy to operate, and even though the ground wasn't completely flat, it felt stable. It has weight to it and goes faster than I expected, so if the conditions for riding are available, I would use it as a means of transportation."
