Veritas announced NetBackup 8.1.1 and the NetBackup REST API, which provides new APIs. This enables developers, partners, and solution providers to integrate and customize data protection and strictly regulated public sector applications for business.

Companies in various industries, including public sector, healthcare, finance, and manufacturing, can programmatically access NetBackup using the NetBackup REST API and make extensive use of the Veritas 360 data management portfolio. This allows you to integrate NetBackup with various applications and develop more customized data management solutions.

Realizing a data management platform optimized for the public sector
With this announcement, Veritas plans to expand the provision of its 360 data management portfolio to U.S. local and central government agencies. NetBackup is optimized for the world's strictest product security standards, including the Federal Information Processing Standard (FIPS) for cryptographic module approval and the use of AES 256-bit encryption, which is the de facto standard for data security.

NetBackup is optimized for major security standards that provide compliance with numerous defense information systems, including strict U.S. government agency regulations and the Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) Security Template Implementation Guides (STIG). In addition, NetBackup complies with the Application Security and Development STIG, Database STIG, Network STG, Red Hat STIG, and Web STIG.

NetBackup supports the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) Special Publication (SP) 800-53 Rev. 4 at Low, Medium, and High operational security levels. Furthermore, NetBackup additionally provides the full Spillage Remediation Overwrites feature required by the same agency's SP-800-88. Veritas is making continuous efforts in the public sector, including strengthening support to meet U.S. government agency standards.

NetBackup supports expanded multi-cloud environments
