Collaborating with world-class design studios to create sustainable smart cities

Dassault Systèmes participated in Milan Design Week, the world's largest design exhibition held in Milan, Italy, and unveiled works created in collaboration with global design studios to build sustainable smart cities. Leading design experts such as Kengo Kuma, Dan Roosegaarde, Wesley Gottley, and Superflux digitally designed, fabricated, and verified using Dassault Systèmes' CATIA and SOLIDWORKS.

In particular, works related to urban air pollution and fine dust, which have recently become hot topics, such as Kengo Kuma's Breath/ng and Daan Roosegaarde's Smog-Free Project, have attracted attention.

Kengo Kuma is a world-renowned architect who utilizes Dassault Systèmes' cloud platform. He experimented with various materials and forms while creating Breath/ng using the 3DEXPERIENCE platform. This massive 6-meter-tall spiral structure, composed of a single building, uses fibers manufactured by Anemotech to absorb and purify pollutants equivalent to those emitted by 90,000 cars.

In addition, the 'Smog-Free Tower' from the SMOG FREE PROJECT, led by Dutch artist and innovator Dan Roosegaarde, uses patented ion technology to absorb smog and filter out harmful particles, allowing people to breathe clean air. The Smog-Free Tower, equipped with eco-friendly technology, purifies 30,000 m³ of air per hour and generates energy using wind power, resulting in a very low energy consumption of 1,170 watts. Recently, it was installed in Krakow, Poland, starting with China, and installations are scheduled to expand to Mexico, India, and other regions in the future.
