Projected image brightness up to 2,500 ANSI lumens

LG Electronics will begin taking pre-orders for its 4K UHD (3,840 X 2,160) picture quality beam projector, the 'LG CineBeam Laser 4K (Model: HU80KA)', in Korea from the 23rd. It will be released early next month.

LG Electronics applied a new brand name, 'LG CineBeam', to this product. It contains the meaning of providing higher value so that customers can enjoy a large and clear screen like in a movie theater. LG Electronics also plans to sequentially change the existing brands, such as 'LG MiniBeam' and 'LG ProBeam', to 'LG CineBeam' during the first half of the year.

The 'LG CineBeam Laser 4K' has a resolution of 4K UHD (3,840 X 2,160). The brightness of the image projected by this product is up to 2,500 ANSI Lumens. A beam projector must have high resolution and emit bright light to show a clear screen.

LG Electronics is releasing an ultra-high definition beam projector because the market is expected to grow rapidly. Market research firm PMA (Pacific Media Associates) forecasted that the 4K beam projector market would grow 2.3 times from approximately 90,000 units last year to 210,000 units this year. It is expected to increase to 1.83 million units in 2022, 8.7 times more than this year, and become a mainstream product.

This product has a screen diagonal length of 150 inches (380 cm). It is longer than a basketball hoop. It also supports HDR (High Dynamic Range) function that increases contrast ratio to show a clear screen. It shows movies and dramas made with 'HDR 10' standard in clear picture quality.

The 'LG CineBeam Laser 4K' is a rectangular solid. There is a square lens cover on the top of the product. This cover opens up and down with one side fixed like a car trunk. There is a mirror on the inside of the cover that reflects the image coming from the lens toward the wall or screen. The user can adjust the angle of the mirror like opening and closing a trunk to align the screen to the desired position. It is convenient because there is no need to adjust the product up, down, left, and right like before.

This is why this product won the 'Best Innovation' award at CES 2018, the world's largest consumer electronics show, and the 'Best of the Best' award in the product design category at the Red Dot Award, one of the world's top three design awards.

It is also convenient to move and store. The product size (width 165mm, length 165mm, height 470mm) and weight (6.7kg) are each half that of similar beam projectors. Also, when the user presses the button on the bottom of the product, the power cord is pulled into the product like a vacuum cleaner power cord. The 'LG CineBeam Laser 4K' is priced at 3.49 million won.

LG Electronics launched the 'LG Minibeam' in 2008. It has been very popular for the past 10 years by making the beam projector small and light. It has ranked first in sales in the global LED beam projector market for 7 consecutive years from 2011 to 2017. LG Electronics has expanded its market beyond offices to homes, campsites, kindergartens, and academies with its LED beam projectors, which are advantageous for miniaturization. With the launch of the 'LG CineBeam', the company plans to continue to lead the market with various products, including LED beam projectors as well as more advanced laser beam projectors.
