LG Innotek Pursues U.S. and China Markets Leveraging UV LED Competitiveness

LG Innotek announced that it will participate in RadTech 2018, North America's largest UV exhibition, held in Chicago, Illinois, U.S. from July 7-9, and will directly host a UV LED forum in Shenzhen, China on the 29th.
UV (Ultraviolet rays) LED is an advanced semiconductor light source that emits ultraviolet rays. Depending on wavelength, it eliminates bacteria and viruses and exhibits characteristics that enable chemical reactions with special materials, making it applicable to water, air, and surface sterilization, medical and bio applications, and curing and exposure equipment.
RadTech 2018 is a major industry event where approximately 100 companies showcase their latest products and conferences on ultraviolet technology and market trends are held concurrently. In particular, active business transactions take place for curing products used in multiple industries such as manufacturing and printing.
At RadTech 2018, LG Innotek will showcase approximately 30 LED package types with UV wavelengths and light output optimized according to application. The company plans to present high-quality UV light sources to buyers, including UV-A LED packages at 365-415 nanometer (nm) wavelengths, 305nm UV-B, and 278nm UV-C LED packages.
In addition, LG Innotek will directly host a UV LED forum in Shenzhen, Guangdong Province, China on the 29th. This is to accelerate cooperation with local companies and expand discovery of new partner companies.
At the China UV LED Forum, LG Innotek plans to invite industry and academic stakeholders and share latest information on UV LED technology and application products. The company's approach is to actively promote the excellent performance and diverse applications of UV LED to the China market.
A UV LED exhibition booth will also be set up at the forum venue. The company will showcase various products including its world-leading 100 milliwatt (mW) UV-C LED light output, independently developed sterilization modules, curing and exposure packages, and medical and bio application packages.
Prior to this China forum, the UV LED forum that LG Innotek hosted in Seoul in March was attended by approximately 1,000 people including stakeholders from various industries such as home appliances, sanitary equipment, medical, and manufacturing equipment, as well as university and association officials, achieving great success.
A company official stated, "UV LED is an innovative product that makes our daily lives cleaner and safer, enhancing quality of life," and added, "We will properly communicate the value of UV LED in the United States and China, which are global business bases and regions with significant potential demand."

LG Innotek participates in the Korea Printed Circuit Association (KPCA) Show 2018.
LG Innotek will participate in the International Electronics Circuit Industry Exhibition (KPCA Show 2018), which will be held from the 24th to the 26th at KINTEX in Goyang-si, Gyeonggi-do, and showcase its advanced electronic circuit board technology. The International Electronics Circuit Industry Exhibition is the only domestic specialized electronics circuit trade show, where approximately 250 domestic and international companies participate annually to share the latest technology trends and information. LG Innotek reports slight year-on-year increase in Q1 driven by expansion of high-end components
LG Innotek recorded a slight increase in sales for the first quarter compared to the same period of the previous year. Operating profit declined due to the entry into the off-season and increased expenses from future-oriented investments. Under Korean International Financial Reporting Standards (K-IFRS), LG Innotek recorded sales of 1.7205 trillion won and operating profit of 16.8 billion won for the first quarter of 2018. Sales increased 4.6% year-over-year, while operating profit decreased 74.8%. Compared to the previous quarter, sales declined 40% and operating profit decreased 88.1%. A company official stated, "Sales increased due to expanded high-end components such as dual camera modules compared to the same period last year," and added, "Operating profit declined as we expanded investments including production capacity expansion for core businesses, while entering a distinct seasonal off-season, and there was also an impact from won strength."
