Intergris Invests 33 Billion Won in Expansion of Malaysia Kulim Plant

The expansion was decided to meet surging demand in the Asia region, particularly in Korea, and will involve an investment of approximately 33 billion won. Upon completion of the expansion, production volume of FOUP, 200mm and 300mm wafer handling and transportation container products is expected to increase by more than 30% compared to current levels. Shipments from the newly introduced production lines are expected to begin within three months.
Bill Shaner, Senior Vice President of Advanced Materials Processing Business at Intergris, stated, "Demand for Intergris's FOUP and advanced materials processing products is surging in the Asia region, particularly in Korea, and this trend is expected to continue over the next decade." He added, "Through the proximity of the Kulim plant to Asian semiconductor manufacturers and our expanded capabilities, we will be able to more effectively meet growing demand."

Integris: “Now, in addition to inspection equipment, it is important to remove contamination from raw materials”
Integris, an industrial specialty chemicals and advanced materials solutions company, has announced plans to strengthen its "black box" strategy. The black box strategy refers to providing material solutions that can supplement the limitations of inspection equipment and increase semiconductor yield. To this end, Integris acquired PSS (Particle Sizing Systems, LLC.). Scratch defects that often occur in CMP applications of advanced nodes are caused by agglomeration of slurry abrasive particles. This can be a factor affecting process yield. Through the PSS acquisition, Integris is now able to support real-time particle size analysis in liquid process workflows. By automating the monitoring process, effective solution utilization becomes possible, including appropriate filter selection and system maintenance.

Integris Expands R&D and Manufacturing Facilities at Suwon Jang-an Plant
Entegris announced that it will expand its Suwon Jangan facility to strengthen R&D and manufacturing capabilities in ADM (Advanced Deposition Materials). Through this investment, the company will further enhance R&D capabilities at the Korea Technology Center (KTC) located in Suwon and establish a single facility capable of handling everything from initial product conception to finished product manufacturing. The total investment in the Jangan facility expansion amounts to approximately 500 billion won (45 million dollars), marking the largest investment made over the past five years.

Infineon Invests 1.6 Billion Euros in New 300mm Chip Factory
Infineon will construct an automated chip factory in Villach, Austria, producing 300mm thin-film wafers. The company will invest approximately 1.6 billion euros over six years, creating around 400 new jobs through the efficient new facility. The new factory is expected to commence construction in the first half of 2019 and begin production in early 2021. Once the production equipment reaches full capacity, the additional potential revenue is estimated at approximately 1.8 billion euros annually.
