Silicon Labs announced on the 20th that it is launching the Wireless Xpress solution, which enables users to connect and operate IoT applications in a single day without the need to develop separate software.

Silicon Labs' Wireless Xpress provides everything needed for development, including certified Bluetooth 5 LE (Low Energy) and Wi-Fi modules, protocol stacks, and easy-to-use tools, while simplifying development through a configuration-based development environment.

Thanks to the onboard wireless stack controlled through an advanced Xpress command API for configuration and control, Wireless Xpress devices require only basic resources from the host processor. Therefore, developers can add wireless connectivity to any microcontroller (MCU).

Bluetooth and Wi-Fi IoT products based on Wireless Xpress can be remotely managed and updated over the air (OTA) by utilizing built-in device management capabilities. Using Silicon Labs' Zentri Device Management Service (DMS), end users can easily handle firmware installation and updates, real-time device status monitoring, and product configuration changes through a mobile app.

To enable easy and simple addition of Bluetooth or Wi-Fi connectivity to mobile applications, Wireless Xpress includes mobile app software development kits (SDKs) for Android and iOS. This mobile app framework consists of various examples and libraries, and by providing simple communication and OTA APIs, it accelerates app development work and simplifies wireless design for mobile platforms.

Wireless Xpress adopts Silicon Labs' Gecko OS, an IoT operating system, accelerating the development of ready-to-use connected products in the market. Silicon Labs plans to introduce additional products and solutions based on Gecko OS in the future.
