Keysight Technologies announced on the 29th that its 5G Conformance Toolset has obtained PTCRB certification, becoming the first solution for 5G NR (New Radio) device certification.
The PTCRB is a certification forum composed of industry-leading mobile operators, and is focused on accelerating the commercialization of 5G mobile devices across the ecosystem.

This certification is the result of a long collaboration between Keysight and Qualcomm Technologies, a subsidiary of Qualcomm. The two companies are focusing on verifying the validity and operation of RF and protocol conformity test specifications defined by 3GPP.

Conformity tests adopted by certification bodies such as PTCRB serve to verify that commercial 5G devices comply with the latest 3GPP Release 15 specifications and operate as expected on mobile networks.

The Keysight 5G compliance toolset is based on the Keysight UXM 5G wireless test platform and part of the Keysight 5G network emulation solution portfolio.

It is the first and only 5G RF test set verified to ensure that device manufacturers comply with 3GPP 5G NR NSA (Non-Standalone) requirements for the minimum output power generated by 5G mobile devices at sub-6GHz frequencies.

Keysight's 5G conformance toolset supports the device development workflow from initial design to certification and manufacturing. This solution supports the certification process for all devices and enables mobile device verification and certification across RF, radio resource management (RRM), and protocols. Users can use this toolset to certify new designs in both FR1 (sub-6GHz frequency) and FR2 (mmWave frequency).
