Infineon Launches 60mm Thyristor/Diode Module Family with Pressure Contact Technology to Prevent Arcing

On the 13th, Infineon Technologies launched a new family of 60mm thyristor/diode modules featuring pressure contact technology.
Infineon Eco Block 60mm
The new Eco Block product family meets the demand for battery chargers, static and bypass switches, and cost-effective large modules for wind power applications.
It is also suitable for soft starters and rectifiers in drives or UPS (uninterruptible power-supply). Since these modules operate at high junction temperatures, they are suitable for air-cooled designs.
The Eco Block module family includes all essential functions, eliminates additional features that increase costs, and utilizes pressure contact technology. It provides best-in-class thyristor and diode blocking stability, enhancing reliability and extending lifespan.
Pressure contact technology prevents arc generation by causing a short circuit in the event of a fault. This simplifies safety design regarding shielding and fuses.
This new 60mm module product offers excellent overload protection, minimizing failure rates and lowering system costs. It provides excellent cost-effectiveness by combining proven reliability and functionality.
The new 60mm Eco Block product family featuring pressure contact technology has now started mass production supply.
The module product is configured with upper and lower thyristors or upper thyristors and lower diodes, the blocking voltage is 1600V or 2200V, and the current rating is from 420A to 630A.
Meanwhile, Infineon plans to launch a 70mm module product within the year. To maximize performance and enable customers to shorten production processes, the subsequent product line plans to apply thermal interface material (TIM).
