LG Electronics is equipping its new strategic smartphone, the 'LG G8 ThinQ', with premium sound.

LG Electronics is equipping the LG G8 ThinQ with "Crystal Sound OLED (CSO)," a sound technology that generates sound from the screen itself. Furthermore, LG has completed its premium sound by adding the expertise of British audio brand Meridian Audio to its proprietary audio technology.

As the number of customers enjoying various entertainment such as music, movies, and games on their smartphones increases, the demand for high-resolution audio sources and surround sound, etc., with a high level of immersion, is gradually increasing, and this is reflected in the LG G8 ThinQ.


Display as Speaker, Crystal Sound OLED
CSO is a technology that uses OLED panels as a speaker diaphragm. You can make sound directly from the screen without separate speakers.
The G8 ThinQ, equipped with CSO technology, emits sound from the entire screen, not just the earpiece, allowing customers to make calls without issue regardless of where they place their ear on the screen. If a customer uses the speakerphone to hear audible calls, the sound will still come from the speaker located at the bottom of the device.

The LG G8 ThinQ delivers two-channel stereo sound through the CSO and bottom-mounted speakers, delivering a more three-dimensional and balanced sound. The CSO eliminates the receiver hole, which functions as the earpiece on conventional smartphones, resulting in a cleaner front design.


Tuned by British Meridian, upgrading your sound experience
LG Electronics is once again upgrading the smartphone sound features that have been well-received by existing LG smartphone customers in the LG G8 ThinQ.

To create the LG G8 ThinQ's premium sound, LG Electronics collaborated with Meridian, a high-end audio company in the UK. Meridian also designed the '3D Surround Sound System' for the automobile brand 'Range Rover'.

The LG G8 ThinQ significantly enhances customer usability by expanding support for the surround sound system (DTS:X), which implements up to 7.1-channel sound, not only through wired earphones but also through its own speakers. Last year, LG Electronics became the first smartphone to feature DTS:X in the LG G7 ThinQ, but previously it could only be enjoyed with wired earphones.

Users can experience high-resolution audio sources vividly with the Hi-Fi Quad DAC (Digital to Analog Converter). Upsampling is also possible, making standard audio sources clearer. It also supports the MQA (Master Quality Authenticated) standard, allowing users to enjoy high-quality streaming without the burden of a small data capacity. The Boombox Speaker feature, which delivers powerful low-mid sounds, is also retained.
