LG Electronics will participate in 'MWC19' held in Barcelona, Spain for four days from the 25th to the 28th.
MWC is the world's largest mobile exhibition, and this year, over 2,300 companies from 200 countries are participating. The organizers expect that the number of visitors to the exhibition hall during this exhibition period will exceed 100,000.

This year, LG Electronics set up a 792㎡ booth with the slogan, ‘Consumer Experience Beyond Innovation.’ Here, we will exhibit the full lineup of the V/G/Q/K series, from premium to mid-priced and practical models, including 5G smartphones.
LG Electronics is emphasizing ‘5G Begins with LG’ in the exhibition hall in line with the beginning of the 5G era.

The plan is to introduce a 5G smartphone with optimized performance and high stability so that customers can enjoy the next-level speed properly and on time, while strengthening collaboration with global mobile carriers that are leading the 5G era to create an opportunity for a brand leap forward with 5G.

On the 24th, local time, LG Electronics unveiled two strategic smartphone products at the Barcelona International Convention Center in Spain.

The 'LG V50 ThinQ 5G' is equipped with performance and stability optimized for the 5G service starting this year, and the 'LG G8 ThinQ' has enhanced the camera performance most used by customers to create a new experience for 4G customers.
In addition, on the 25th, the day of MWC19, three cost-effective smartphones armed with AI and a large-screen display will also be unveiled.


LG V50 ThinQ 5G, the advent of new speed
The LG V50 ThinQ 5G reflects the needs of customers who want to reliably enjoy large-capacity content at 5G speeds that are up to 20 times faster than 4G.

The front tempered glass has a soft curve that maximizes the comfort when held in the hand. The rear has no camera module protrusion at all, and the fingerprint recognition sensor only indicates the location with minimal tactile sensation.
LG Electronics has upgraded its display and sound performance to the next level. The LG V50 ThinQ 5G is equipped with a large 6.4-inch screen, providing an excellent sense of immersion when enjoying videos or games.

The sound has been upgraded to allow stereo listening through external speakers. DTS:X technology, which allows you to enjoy surround sound without high-end earphones or dedicated content, has also been implemented through external speakers. The 'Boombox Speaker', which enhances the mid-low tones, adds to the impact and dynamic feel of the sound.

In addition, both the front and rear cameras have an out-of-focus video function. Because multiple lenses with different angles and depths of field analyze the difference in distance and depth, it is characterized by a natural look that seems to capture the photographer's point of view. Even if the person moves, the focus is fixed only on the person, so it can create a romantic atmosphere like a movie.
As there are more and more cases of recording daily life with videos as well as photos, various functions have been added, such as ▲'Cine Video' that allows you to shoot videos with the feel of movies of various genres, ▲'Point Zoom' that allows you to zoom in and out on a desired point without shaking, and ▲'Expert Shooting Mode' that adjusts not only image quality factors but also high-resolution microphone performance like a professional.

To enable faster operation of various contents in a 5G environment, LG Electronics equipped it with Qualcomm's latest chipset, the 'Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 Mobile Platform' and the Snapdragon X50 5G modem, and increased the information processing speed through SW optimization.

It also features a 4,000mAh large-capacity battery, which is 20% larger than the LG V40 ThinQ. Compared to existing heat pipes, its heat dissipation performance has been improved to a higher level, so there is less heat generation even when running multiple large-capacity programs at once.

It also has the durability to pass 14 military standard specifications (MIL-STD 810G, Mil-Spec) recognized by the U.S. Department of Defense. Corning's 'Gorilla Glass 6' is applied to the back.

LG Electronics has partnered with a total of 10 mobile carriers in global markets, including Korea, the United States, Europe, and Australia, that are launching 5G services this year. They have agreed to cooperate from sales to promotion, and are prepared to supply products to customers in the 5G market when they want them.


LG Dual Screen, Expansion of a New World
LG Electronics noted that what customers most expect from using 5G speeds is the usability of multimedia such as games and movies. They focused on resolving the contradiction of preferring a thin and light design when carrying it around on a daily basis, and only wanting a large screen when enjoying content.
Accordingly, the detachable OLED display 'LG Dual Screen' was proposed as a solution.

The LG Dual Screen is a flip-type cover that covers the smartphone screen. It connects to the smartphone just like a normal smartphone cover. When unfolded, the 6.2-inch LG Dual Screen screen is on the left, and the LG V50 ThinQ 5G screen is on the right.

The screens of the LG Dual Screen and LG V50 ThinQ 5G operate independently, like two smartphones. For example, while a user is watching a movie on their smartphone, they can search for information about the actors or the plot of the movie on the dual screen.

You can turn the LG Dual Screen on or off by clicking the small semicircle icon on the LG V50 ThinQ 5G screen, and you can also swap or transfer the screens of your smartphone and the LG Dual Screen.

It is also possible to link the screens of the LG Dual Screen and the LG V50 ThinQ 5G depending on the content of the mobile carrier. When running a game, you can enjoy an exciting game by implementing the LG Dual Screen as the game screen and the smartphone as the game controller.
The LG Dual Screen can be fixed at 104° and 180° angles relative to the smartphone, making it convenient for users to use while standing. Since it is powered by the smartphone’s battery, there is no need to worry about having to charge it separately.


LG G8 ThinQ, the beginning of a new experience
LG Electronics also unveiled the LG G8 ThinQ, which adds new features to the most frequently used features to meet the diverse customer needs in the 4G market.

LG Electronics has changed the basic rules of how to operate a smartphone by installing the 'Z Camera' on the front. This presents a new user experience that not only offers upgraded picture quality but also adds convenience and fun.

The LG G8 ThinQ offers a different experience from the existing 'hand feel' you get every time you touch or press a smartphone with the 'Air Motion' function that runs apps by simply gesturing on the display via the Z Camera.
You can run a pre-designated app by moving your hand left or right on the screen, and you can answer or hang up a call with a hand gesture. If you make a shape of pinching five fingers at once on the screen, the screen will be captured, and if you make a gesture of turning the analog dial with your thumb, index finger, and middle finger while watching a video or listening to music, you can turn the volume up or down. It is also convenient in situations where you cannot directly touch the smartphone.

The LG G8 ThinQ is equipped with a vein recognition function. Simply hold your palm toward the camera and the camera will recognize the location, shape, and thickness of the veins in your palm to identify you. Since veins are different for each person, security is also high.

In addition to vein recognition, it also recognizes the user's face in three dimensions. The Z Camera distinguishes the user's face regardless of the presence or absence of light by combining the ToF sensor and infrared illuminator. This overcomes the limitations of the existing structured light (SL) method, which does not recognize well in dark places without light or when facing bright sunlight. Users can use various biometrics such as veins, fingerprints, and faces, making it more convenient to use smartphones.
The LG G8 ThinQ offers even more powerful camera features. Unlike the existing method of only distinguishing between the subject and the background, it precisely calculates the distance between the subject and the camera in millimeters, and can adjust the screen blur level to express depth in up to 256 levels.

The camera image sensor size is 1.22㎛, which is about 10% larger than the LG V40 ThinQ, and produces clearer pictures. You can capture fleeting moments as selfies by applying AF (Auto Focus), which quickly and automatically focuses. You can also shoot out-of-focus videos with the rear camera.

The convenience and fun of the LG G8 ThinQ have been enriched, but the design has become more concise and simplified. In particular, multimedia performance has become more powerful as the number of cases of using immersive content such as videos and games has increased.

The 6.1-inch large screen has a QHD+ high resolution (3120X1440) and 564 pixels per inch. Since pixels come together to create a screen, the higher the number of pixels per inch (ppi), the more precise the expression.

The LG G8 ThinQ's ambient light sensor automatically provides colors that reduce eye fatigue based on the light source in the usage environment.
The 'Crystal Sound OLED' technology, which uses the OLED panel as a speaker diaphragm, allows you to enjoy LG's unique sound not only with earphones but also with more powerful stereo speakers. DTS: X technology, which enhances the three-dimensionality of sound regardless of earphone type, has also been applied to external speakers. The 'Boombox Speaker', which enhances the sense of excitement with powerful mid-low tones, is also the same.

LG Electronics applied high-quality sound in the LG G8 ThinQ in collaboration with British high-end audio company Meridian and the 'Hi-Fi Quad DAC (Digital to Analog Converter)' that plays 32-bit high-resolution sound sources without loss. It also supports the MQA (Master Quality Authenticated) standard that allows you to enjoy Hi-Fi high-quality streaming with a small data capacity.

The sophisticated design stands out even more with its extreme minimalism that eliminates unnecessary elements. The rear camera module of the product does not protrude at all, and the fingerprint recognition sensor is also processed more smoothly, creating a smooth sense of unity overall. Even the small water droplet receiver on the front top of the product has been eliminated.

Even with the large 6.1-inch screen, the length, width, and depth are 151.9 mm, 71.8 mm, and 8.4 mm respectively, making it comfortable for users with small hands to use.

It has passed MIL-SPEC in 14 categories including low temperature, high temperature, humidity, and thermal shock, and is resistant to everyday shocks.


LG Q60-K50-K40, Maximized Experience at a Reasonable Price
LG Electronics equipped the LG Q60 and LG K50 with 6.26-inch displays, and the LG K40 with 5.7-inch displays. They also feature a FullVision display with minimized front bezels, making them easy to use with one hand despite their large screens.
In particular, the LG Q60 and LG K50 feature a 'waterdrop notch' design that minimizes the display area lost due to the front camera, maximizing immersion.

The three new products also feature a variety of AI features. The AI camera automatically recognizes objects and recommends optimal image quality, including brightness and contrast, while the Google Assistant button allows you to easily launch the Google Assistant.

LG Electronics applied AI cameras to all three new products, and the LG Q60 is equipped with three camera lenses on the back: standard, wide-angle, and depth, each with 16 million, 5 million, and 2 million pixels, respectively. The three lenses help users take photos of people and backgrounds at once without having to move around.

The LG Q60 and LG K50 are equipped with a depth camera that supports the out-of-focus function that highlights only the subject the user wants to capture and blurs the background.

LG Electronics has equipped three new products with the 'DTS:X' surround sound function, which was mainly applied to premium product lines, so that users can enjoy high-quality surround sound like in a movie theater with up to 7.1 channels even without high-end earphones.
