Netgear Launches Wi-Fi 6 Router 'RAX80' in Korea

Netgear announced on the 5th that it will officially launch a Wi-Fi wireless router in Korea that guarantees an integrated speed of 6000 Mbps and supports the next-generation wireless standard, Wi-Fi 6 (802.11ax).

The Netgear Nighthawk 8-Stream AX6000 WiFi wireless router (RAX80) being released this time is a WiFi 6 router that supports the 802.11ax standard, which is an evolution of the existing 802.11ac standard.
The RAX80 supports Wi-Fi 6's OFDMA (Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiple Access). While the existing AC method only transmits one data point at a time, OFDMA transmits multiple data points simultaneously. This allows for a 50% wider wireless coverage area at a 40% faster speed for four times the number of digital devices.
The Nighthawk 8-Stream AX6000 WiFi router supports dual-band, delivering a combined maximum speed of 6 Gbps on both 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz. Additionally, the 'Smart Connect' technology combines two bands into one wireless SSID, ensuring optimal speed for each terminal and automatically providing load balancing.
The RAX80 features four built-in antennas and five Gigabit LAN ports for fast, reliable data transfer. Combining the WAN port and LAN port 1 provides up to 2 Gbps of internet speed, while link aggregation, combining LAN ports 4 and 5, can support up to 2 Gbps. It also supports 4x4 MI-MIMO, which supports streaming to multiple users simultaneously, and Beamforming Plus technology, which concentrates and directs wireless signals for faster, longer data transmission.
Netgear's new router features two USB 3.0 ports for sharing USB hard drives and printers, as well as cloud access and backup of USB storage. The Netgear Nighthawk app offers a variety of additional features, including child-protection site blocking, guest network creation, remote management, and automatic firmware updates.
It is fully compatible with all existing 802.11a/b/g/n/ac wireless products and is equipped with advanced features such as VPN server function and LED on/off function.

노르딕 세미컨덕터는 국내 전자기기 전문기업 솔루엠이 자사의 블루투스 LE 및 와이파이 기반의 스마트 공기질 측정기인 키코 에어의 블루투스 LE 무선 연결을 위해 노르딕의 nRF52832 SoC를 채택했다고 밝혔다. 키코 에어는 설치 및 구성이 완료되면, 노르딕 SoC가 제공하는 짧은 대기시간의 블루투스 LE 무선 연결을 이용해 사용자의 블루투스 4.0 이상 스마트폰이나 태블릿과 페어링이 가능하다.

SK Telecom First Applies AI-Based Network Operations at Gwanghwamun K-Pop Concert
SK텔레콤이 3월 21일 서울 광화문 일대에서 열린 대형 K-팝 공연에 AI 기반 네트워크 운영 시스템을 처음 적용해 통신 품질을 관리했다고 밝혔다. 공연 전후 3시간 동안 모바일 데이터 사용량은 12.15TB로 직전 주말 같은 시간대보다 약 2배 늘었다. SK텔레콤은 AI 시스템 ‘A-One’을 활용해 5분 단위, 50m 단위로 트래픽을 감시하며 과부하 가능성에 대응했고, 임시 통신 시설과 현장 인력 운영도 병행했다. 밀집 행사와 외국인 이용 수요가 동시에 늘어나는 환경에서 AI 기반 자율 네트워크 운영의 현장 적용 가능성을 확인한 사례로 해석된다.
