Keysight Technologies announced on the 12th the launch of a microwave signal generator that supports dual channels of signals with a frequency of up to 44㎓ and a modulation bandwidth of 2㎓ in a single instrument.
Keysight's new VXG microwave signal generators address measurement challenges in wideband mmWave applications for 5G and satellite communications by reducing path loss and test setup complexity in over-the-air (OTA) test environments.

Most 5G NR deployments utilize active antenna arrays operating in the mmWave frequency spectrum and wide channel bandwidths to support beamforming and MIMO. Network equipment and components intended for deployment at mmWave frequencies must undergo mandatory 3GPP conformance testing in a radiated OTA test environment.

The new product provides an optimized 5G NR test system setup, leveraging up to 2 GHz of RF modulation bandwidth and phase coherent capabilities, along with dual-channel 44 GHz vector signal generation performance, all in a single instrument to support next-generation mobile communications technologies. It also provides low path loss in OTA test systems with the industry's highest output power performance compared to EVM (Error Vector Magnitude) and ACPR (Adjacent Channel Power Ratio) performance.

Keysight's 5G waveform generation and analysis testbed solution leverages the enhanced capabilities of the VXG microwave signal generator, enabling 5G development teams to efficiently validate new designs across both 3GPP-defined frequency ranges 1 (FR1) and 2 (FR2).
