STMicroelectronics announced on the 26th that it has launched the 650V STPOWER IGBTs 'STGWA40IH65DF' and 'STGWA50IH65DF', which are optimized for the switching performance and high conductivity of soft-switching circuits. The new products can improve the energy efficiency of resonant converters in a switching frequency range of 16 kHz to 60 kHz.
The new IH series devices are one of ST's TFS (Trench Field-Stop) IGBTs for soft-switching applications, and include the HB and HB2 series for power supplies, welders, and solar converters. This device has been finely tuned for half-bridge circuits in home appliances such as induction cookers and other soft-switching applications.

STGWA40IH65DF and STGWA50IH65DF support applications up to 4 kW with ratings of 40 A and 50 A, respectively.

The two IGBTs provide excellent conduction performance as freewheeling co-packaged diodes with a low saturation voltage (VCE(sat)) of 1.5V (average at nominal current) and a low drop voltage, as well as a low turn-off loss of 0.19mJ (average) at 40A STGWA40IH65DF.

The IH series IGBT supports a maximum junction temperature of 175°C and features low thermal resistance and a positive temperature coefficient VCE(sat), adding to reliability.

STGWA40IH65DF and STGWA50IH65DF IGBTs are currently available in TO-247 LL (Long-Lead) power packages. Products supporting 20A and 30A will also be released soon in TO-247 LL and TO-220 packages.
