Public-Private Joint Task Force for 5G Service Inspection Operates Permanently

The Ministry of Science and ICT announced on the 19th that it will operate a public-private joint special task force (TF) composed of the Ministry, mobile carriers, and manufacturers to inspect 5G services and stabilize commercial 5G mobile communication services and improve their quality.
The public-private joint task force plans to strengthen communication with the public by discussing the expansion of service coverage and the resolution of technical issues, such as disconnections, to resolve inconveniences for citizens using 5G mobile communication services, and by disclosing key details.
The public-private joint task force meeting to review 5G services is scheduled to be held on the 23rd, and plans are in place to hold weekly meetings to review pending issues related to 5G services.
In addition, the government plans to share information among mobile carriers and manufacturers and develop technical alternatives to apply in the field so that the inconveniences experienced by the public during the use of 5G mobile communication services can be resolved promptly.
In parallel with this, the Ministry of Science and ICT plans to hold daily internal inspection meetings regarding 5G mobile communication services to check the degree of quality improvement and trends in complaints, and to respond immediately to various problematic situations experienced by the public.
Jang Seok-young, Head of the Information and Communications Policy Office, who is leading the public-private joint task force on 5G service inspection, stated, “The government [addresses] the various inconveniences felt by the public during the early stages of 5G service commercialization. "We take this matter very seriously," they stated, adding that they would "mobilize the full capabilities of the government, mobile carriers, and manufacturers through the operation of the TF to stabilize 5G services as quickly as possible and thereby provide the highest quality 5G services to the public."

Korea-Turkmenistan to Strengthen Cooperation in 5G Infrastructure and Satellite Sectors
The Ministry of Science and ICT held a ministerial meeting with Turkmenistan's Ministry of Industry and Communications. During the meeting, Korea shared its experience as the world's first to commercialize 5G and successful cases in satellite development, and both sides agreed to cooperate on ways Korea can contribute to Turkmenistan's advancement in mobile communications and space sectors. European Patent Applications Surpass 200,000 for the First Time… South Korea Maintains 5th Place, Led by Batteries and Telecommunications
According to the European Patent Office (EPO)'s 'Technology Dashboard 2025', European patent applications last year reached 201,974, surpassing 200,000 for the first time. Korean companies and inventors filed 14,355 applications, representing a 9.5% increase from the previous year and maintaining 5th place by country. SK Telecom First Applies AI-Based Network Operations at Gwanghwamun K-Pop Concert
SK텔레콤이 3월 21일 서울 광화문 일대에서 열린 대형 K-팝 공연에 AI 기반 네트워크 운영 시스템을 처음 적용해 통신 품질을 관리했다고 밝혔다. 공연 전후 3시간 동안 모바일 데이터 사용량은 12.15TB로 직전 주말 같은 시간대보다 약 2배 늘었다. SK텔레콤은 AI 시스템 ‘A-One’을 활용해 5분 단위, 50m 단위로 트래픽을 감시하며 과부하 가능성에 대응했고, 임시 통신 시설과 현장 인력 운영도 병행했다. 밀집 행사와 외국인 이용 수요가 동시에 늘어나는 환경에서 AI 기반 자율 네트워크 운영의 현장 적용 가능성을 확인한 사례로 해석된다.
