LG CNS Builds Platform-Based IT Infrastructure

Utilization of 12,000 pyeong of land owned by Boseong Industrial Co., Ltd.

LG CNS signed an agreement with Boseong Industrial and LG Electronics on the 29th to create a smart town within the Busan Smart City National Pilot City.
The signing ceremony was held at LG Science Park in Magok-dong, Seoul, with the attendance of Vice Chairman Kim Han-ki of Boseong Industrial, President Kim Young-seop of LG CNS, and President Choi Sang-gyu of LG Electronics Korea Sales Headquarters.

With this agreement, the three companies will utilize 12,000 pyeong of land owned by Boseong Industry within the 660,000 pyeong Busan Eco Delta City, a national smart city pilot city designated by the government in January of last year, to build a smart town that combines LG's IT capabilities.

LG CNS is building IT infrastructure for smart homes, building energy, safety and security, and parking control systems based on the smart city platform, 'City Hub,' and is responsible for smart town service planning and integrated operation management.

LG Electronics is responsible for solutions needed for smart towns, including smart home appliances, air conditioning, IoT, and energy technology.

Boseong Industry will create an environment that enables smart services and will be responsible for planning and constructing smart towns.

Meanwhile, LG CNS has been benchmarking successful overseas smart town cases, such as Fuji, Japan, which developed a closed factory site into a residential smart town, and Kashiwanoha, Japan, which implemented energy-specific services.

An official from LG CNS said, “As leading companies in the domestic smart city field, the three companies will contribute to the advancement of national strategies by establishing a framework for developing a Korean smart city model in which the public and private sectors cooperate.”

Meanwhile, LG CNS launched "Cityhub," an IoT-integrated smart city platform offering services across various areas, including transportation, safety, energy, and the environment, last year, becoming the first major corporation to receive Smart City Integrated Platform certification from the Korea Information and Communications Technology Association. This year, the company also chaired the "Smart City Convergence Alliance," a committee under the Presidential Committee on the Fourth Industrial Revolution, launched in February.
