Limelight Networks held an event to announce its strategy on the 21st at the Lotte Hotel Seoul in Euljiro, Seoul, to commemorate the visit of Chairman Robert A. Lento to Korea.

Limelight has decided to expand its customer base in domestic media, broadcasting, gaming, mobile, software, and device manufacturing based on its edge service that minimizes content transmission delay and its low-latency live video streaming solution, Limelight Realtime Streaming, which has a latency of less than 1 second.

“Limelight’s vision is to securely manage digital content and deliver it globally with reliability and performance to satisfy our customers,” said Chairman Lento. “To achieve this, Limelight leverages its Content Delivery Network (CDN) solution and its globally deployed private network to securely and quickly deliver on-demand and live video, software and files, various digital media, web content, and data generated from IoT devices and edge computing devices.”

Limelight plans to increase its global CDN capacity from 39 Tbbs to 55 Tbbs in 2019 to accommodate the exponential growth in online traffic. Additionally, the company plans to increase the number of PoPs (Points of Presence; access points or points of connection between networks or to individual networks) from 82 to 215 worldwide, with locations in 57 countries.

Limelight operates the world's largest private network, providing seamless CDN services based on private network infrastructure, advanced software, and expert services.

In the networking space, Limelight supports over 90 edge locations, over 45 Tbbs, and interconnection with over 1,000 ISPs and last-mile networks.

In the software field, it supports high-quality, low-latency delivery through fast and secure media and web delivery, security, video, edge computing capabilities, and comprehensive configuration and reporting capabilities based on the Limelight Orchestrate Platform, a next-generation CDN platform.

In the service sector, we are strengthening our advanced technical support organization to maximize the above advantages and providing differentiated services such as 24/7/365 customer support monitoring services through our global Network Operations Center (NOC). We also deploy specialized technical support personnel within the country and provide professional services in real time and at the local level.

In the future, Limelight plans to target the market with edge services that minimize transmission delays by processing data at the closest CDN edge location to the customer without having to access the cloud each time.

Additionally, we are focusing on strengthening our position as a leader in the video streaming market with Limelight Realtime Streaming, a sub-second low-latency live video streaming solution. In addition, we plan to expand high-quality CDN services to customers around the world through collaboration with Ericsson.

Currently, Limelight is working with Ericsson to provide fast, secure, high-quality content delivery services based on the Ericsson Unified Delivery Edge Cloud Platform, an edge cloud delivery network.

Content providers can minimize streaming delays by installing Limelight software on the Ericsson Edge Gravity to deliver content from the closest customer touchpoint network.

Service providers can leverage Limelight CDN services and Ericsson Edge Gravity together to build a customized private CDN service environment powered by edge computing.
